2nd review of the Redstone Arsenal this year. We arrived mid-June and the grass was tall then, it was just cut today. We are in the new sites (71-88) and they only cut the grass one mower width from the RV. We have seen fleas, mice and snakes in and near the camp spots. The bath facilities are not being maintained as they were in my last review, they are uncomfortably hot to use as well. The campground is full so I don’t think the Arsenal is losing money on this adventure and I ily believe more could be done to maintain the grounds and make this not only a safer but also more enjoyable stay.

Nice park, large concrete pads on front sites and 25-30 gravel sites behind the main area. Main area has NO shade, back area is a bit shaded. 2 bath houses, each with one shower, brick buildings also serve as storm shelters. We have stayed here 3x now, twice in the main area and our last visit in the back area (Dec 24 - Jan 25). Back area gets MUDDY if it rains. All sites are FHU. Water pressure was low on back area. Back sites are back in, main area all pull through. Many sites appear permanent, although they are infrequently visited. Have family in the area so we will be back.

Sites are spacious, concrete, quiet, and convenient. Just make sure you call ahead to ensure that your site is actually available on the day of your arrival. We made the mistake of trusting that the process would be efficient. Upon our arrival at 2pm (11am is checkout time & 11:30am is check-in time), our site was occupied. I called the office. After about 20 minutes, they told us to take the site next to the camp host. They never made mention that this would be a temporary holding site for us or that it is their emergency site. Therefore, we got completely set up, only to have someone knock on our door 4 hours later to tell us that we would need to move to our original site the next morning. We had plans the next morning and had to cancel them. I feel like we should be refunded a night for our inconvenience and their incompetence. They were barely apologetic. Clearly, my expectations and standards are too high. So do yourself a favor, and call ahead of your arrival to ensure that your site is actually vacant and ready for you.

We have stayed at this park several times. I must say this is our favorite park in the military FamCamp system. This is probably our favorite regardless of FamCamp or civilian. Our most recent stay was the month of January 2024. The sites are large, the park is well lit, it is hidden from the main roads therefore the park is quiet. The park is near the NASA space museums, Monte Sano State Park, and other local attractions. We absolutely love this park.

Directions to campground not accurate. Must follow u turn sign heading back to main gate 9. A sign to Gods Rd is on right. Follow signs to campground. Nice extra large paved sites in open area. Laundry is closed for 3 months for remodeling. Close to post commissary and PX Would stay again

Founded that the camp was well organized and had lots of slots all were on gravel and were quit level. They had washer Ana’s dryers and bathroom fac. Was Easley to get in no problems. There again you still have those homesteaders. They park the campers that they don’t come back. Don’t understand if they want a place to park them use the MWR storage lot not camping slots that some one can use to a night or maybe a couple more.

Nice wide paved spots. Long pull thru spaces. Plenty of room for 44 ft camper and truck. Easy in and out. No Wi-Fi but great AT&T coverage. Camp hosts were super helpful! As others have stated there is not much shade. Would stay here again!

Not a bad RV park for the price. It’s basically a parking lot with no trees or shade but it has a clean bath house, laundry and picnic area. Met with 2 camp hosts who met me as I was driving in, they were both pleasant, informative and provided me with all the information I needed for the campground and base. Park is clean and doesn’t have that trashy homesteader look and feel. A great snowbird nest for a few weeks or month during the winter. Impressed and will visit again and often. Well Done to all involved to make this a great location to camp.

The UTurn is no longer necessary. Through the gate approximately 1 mile to the traffic light, turn left and it goes into Goss Rd.

We arrived on a Friday just after noon. We came in gate 9 as the website directions stated. Guard said to get in left lane at light and do a u-turn. Well, halfway into the u- turn I was hit by a pickup truck in a hurry to get by me. Fire and Police came as my wife walked all the way back to the gate for help. The base police were nice and got us on the way to RV Park. We drove in the park and located our site easily marked. At first glance it seemed like a large parking lot with vegetation and shade around the perimeter. Sites were concrete, long and set up for easy pull in. Great hookups at each site. Bathhouses were ok, but only 1 shower to use. Laundry room in bathhouse was great with four washers and dryers and only $1.00. Sites were in full sun all day and it had the air working hard. It was in high 80’s to mid 90’s everyday. Two dog parks were close by and had some shade. Not much grass though, mostly gravel. Roads in Campground were gravel, two dumpsters for trash. Commissary and Exchange were close by, also Burger King. The route coming in Gate 9 is almost impossible for a u-turn in a 40 ‘ Motor home towing a car. There were large plastic barrels on opposite side when trying to make the turn. Dangerous and needs routed a safer way. Ok for passing thru but not a place to stay long. Lots of Fifth wheels here but no one in them? Seems the norm at many military installations.
