Gate #8 is much better to come through than the main gate which requires you to execute a U-turn to get on Goss Rd (quite the trick towing a 40' rig). The campground is very nice. Sites are concrete with picnic tables. The bathhouse and laundry are brick facilities and were neat and clean. The washers and dryers worked and only cost $1.00 each. All hookups worked fine. The campsites were spacious and easily fit big rigs and their toads. There was a good sized dog run and separate areas for big and little dogs. The wifi was excellent. There is no cable tv. There is no office on site so you have to find them at another location. We only stayed one night so it was just a few drop in a lock box. We would definitely stay here again.

I can only speak for myself but think this FamCamp is great! Yes it's gravel and no cable but the sites are spacious with full hookup. The RV Host was very helpful. Yes there are a number of full timers taking spaces but that seems to be the norm for FamCamps. The remaining sites are fully booked through May. I do plan to try and stay here again.

The roads are graveled, not paved, so with the Alabama rain the RV park become a big mud pit! There is no playground for the children. You do not talk to a persons when there is a problem; a computer operates this park. Officer's of higher ranking, especially Generals, receive "the special "treatment" even though we are all retired and pay the same price!
I have stayed at several military campgrounds and this campground in terrible!

Upside - Nice large pads, plenty of space between sites, close to commissary and PX. Only minutes from shopping malls. Downside - grounds are poorly kept for a military installation, grass in park is only cut once a month, this alllows for a lot of ticks during the summer. Camp host on site but has no information about vacant spaces after hours. Gardens in front of the laundry and bath house are overgrown with weeds (very unsightly). The majority of customers in this park are contract workers on the base that live here. Large trees around the perimeter of the park have a lot of dead limbs, several of the large branches broke and fell in the dog walk area during our stay, could be dangerous.

Nice facility needs a few trees to provide shade. Would be nice to have cable , got tired of watching the one local channel. The WiFi was sporadic. Compared to other military FamCamps, this one needs help in the amenities area.

For an MWR facility it charges local rates. I just stayed at another camp in TN that charged the same, was nicer and not military. Here you now have to pay for cable, and mow your grass if it gets too high the camp host has a lawn mower on site. I used to love coming here but there are better bargains off post. This site should remember they are here because of the sacrifices of the Soldiers.
