Agree with the reviews. The gate is functioning from dust til dawn, gate code provided. Quiet and peaceful.

PEACEFUL! Very quiet with lots of space between sites. Wooded with lots of birds and squirrels. Level concrete slabs. No swimming until 20 May, but can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boats. Military police patrol the park. No internet or laundry facilities.

Great Famcamp. Gravel roads with concrete slabs. Off base property. They had just installed a gate but were waiting on signs before closing it at night (said by staff). Staff was super friendly. The water connections are very low to ground so plan ahead. 3 awesome playgrounds for kids. The beach and lake look amazing.NO washer dryer.

Be aware: this FamCamp is NOT within the confines of Ft. Jackson, so fuel, commissary and Exchange are some miles away芒鈧therwise芒鈧
Courteous, helpful staff. Wonderful, lakeside setting. Quiet (except for the bugle-calls multiples times per day). Spacious, level spots and the showers/bathrooms are OK. Quit a way off I-40

Love this place芒鈧 23 minutes to downtown Columbia, safe for family, rv sites are large, beautiful property, campers are respectful of your space, clean facilities, & mostly quiet for a base property.

Nice campground. 2 bars of Verizon LTE. Stayed with a tent for two nights. Nice tent pads with water and electric available. The men芒鈧劉s bathroom is clean but smells of cheap urinal cakes (like strong moth balls). There is no after hours check-in or information provided. If there is a camp host, their site is not marked. I was working in the area and needed a place to camp for a couple of nights. I didn芒鈧劉t know in advance and by the time I called on Saturday afternoon, the office was closed. I arrived at the campground without a reservation and, after talking to a couple of other campers, set up in an available tent site. I would have been happy to pay, but there is no means to do so when the office is closed. Thanks for a couple of free nights.

The Army has a jewel here. Great layout with lots of room between sites. See 芒鈧揗oose芒鈧劉s芒鈧 review below as I agree completely. Lake is fish able, caught a nice 1 1/2 lb largemouth my first day. Seem like there were a lot of biting bugs however, bug spray and citronella candles worked well. Watch for snakes, as you芒鈧劉re in their environment. Had a 芒鈧揵lack-tailed Eastern Rattlesnake visit our site one afternoon. Left it alone and it slithered back into the Forrest. We originally booked a three night stay and actually stayed two weeks. Perfect campground for true R & R. We certainly book again if we芒鈧劉re ever in the area again.

Stayed here June 2021 - dam is being repaired until 2023 and lake is unusable and not particularly scenic at the moment. Travel Camp is clean and quiet with level mostly concrete pads and full hook-ups with 50AMP. Exchange and Commissary 15 minutes away are both nice. Directions for arriving were an issue. MWR doesn芒鈧劉t provide them on their webpage or reservation confirmation email and couldn芒鈧劉t/wouldn芒鈧劉t tell us how to get here when contacted directly. As best we could figure, there is (currently at least) no way to get to Weston Lake Rec Area from on base Fort Jackson. The Gate 5 that other reviews mention has odd hours if it is actually ever open. We have a 38 foot motorhome towing and here芒鈧劉s what worked for us: I-77 to exit 9B, Leesburg Rd - then about 8 miles to a left on Weston Lake Rd - no typical military gate with a guard on this entrance

Access road desperately needs repaving. When checking in, do not pay attention to the 芒鈧搊ne way芒鈧 signs to the office. You will end up driving your rig through some very tight turns on a horrible road to the office. Instead, take the 芒鈧揺xit芒鈧 road to the parking lot. Check in is laborious. If you have a National Park pass, take it with you to check in for a discount. Customer service is horrible. They only answer the phone when they feel like it. Our assiigned site, 20, had the 50 amp power receptacle installed upside down. Because of this I could not use my portable EMS, and my powercord was upside down after plugging in. I tried to call the office to report the issue, but they wouldn芒鈧劉t answer the phone, so I jumped into our towed and drove to the office. Walked in, and the phone was ringing, but the clerk was surfing on her smartphone paying no attention. I told her about our 50 amp issue, and she said she would text the maintenance manager to have it repaired, but no one ever came to our site to fix it. All said, cannot recommend Weston Lake famcamp. Too bad, because it is a beautiful area, but the negatives clearly outweigh any positives. We will never return.
