Overall, not a bad campground.
The good......
Check in was easy. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and gave plenty of good tips for things to do while in the area.
The campground is also very clean and kept up.
The bad.....
Steep road leading to the campgrounds.
The man who escorted us in was nice until, I decided to reposition my RV in the site after he had left. Because of the slope of the site, The back of my trailer was sitting too high for the stabilizing jacks to reach the ground, so I moved forward and over by a few feet to fix the problem....this apparently didn't set well with him, as he came back and rudely explained me that this wasn't a good place and that I had lost all my outside living area. As it was cold outside, I personally didn't care about the outside area, but because I didn't feel like arguing, I agreed to move back to the original location. He also agreed to bring a few blocks to place under the jacks....an hour passed by and I never saw those blocks, so I made a trip to Home Depot and bought a few...problem solved. I'm still trying to figure out why repositioning my trailer by a few feet was such an issue.

A little piece of heaven. We stayed on one of the new upper tier sites and the views were magnificent although the trip up to the top was a little intimidating. Bath houses and laundry were spotless as were the campsites. This one is an easy 5 star rating.

Charming, small campground with paved roads and well graded gravel site pads. Sites are terraced and staggered on a fairly steep hill. Rhododendron or other shrubs between sites give a sense of privacy. Bathhouse has private shower rooms. There is no parking by the bathhouse but they will give you a ride back up the hill to your site. Newer section further up the mountain has some sites with large decks and amazing views.

Should we tell you how fabulous this little gem in the woods is, or how clean everything is kept, and how terrific the staff is? Or how about the amazing terraced spaces on the hillside next to the forest and running creek? If we do will you promise to keep it that way when you come and not spoil it for others?
This is a really unique RV camping area - like no other. We can't wait to come back and feel very fortunate to have been able to get in at the last minute. It's just a few minutes from major hiking trails as well as Ashville and the surrounding artsy communities.

Beautiful place to stay in the mountains. Escorted up the mountain by Jerry who maneuvered like a pro! Whew, steep and winding to the top but worth it...amazing views with our own wooden deck and swing! Glad to have finally been able to get into this beautiful park!

Mama built a very nice campground on the side of a mountain. Each site has been terraced out with nice level gravel sites. Spotless shower stalls. Laundry room a nice plus. The live black bear walking through the park was entertaining too. This is a very nice place to stay. Wifi is very strong at site 14. Verizon coverage was three dot-extended. I was able to text and call. Surfing was slow on cellular but great on free wifi.

Outstanding experience at Mama Gertie's. Well maintained and managed by friendly and helpful staff. Upon arrival in our 40' motor home, we were escorted to our hilltop site with glorious mountain views. Each site is level, landscaped, and outfitted with a picnic table and fire pit with grate. Several hilltop sites have decks with a porch swing, too. We'll be back soon!

This is without a doubt one of the very best campgrounds we've ever stayed in and we've been in hundreds across the country. Every area is well landscaped and beautiful, the laundry and restrooms are clean as a whistle (and the laundry isn't exorbitantly expensive like many place are). We stayed in the new section way atop the hill and the views of the Smokies/Blue Ridge mtns are spectacular. Special attention has been made to leveling of sites and providing for pets. all sites are graveled and take care of rain runoff. Would come here again in a heartbeat. Sites cost more, but you do get what you pay for. Wonderful family run campground. You won't regret visiting.

FANTASTIC campground! Located just a mile off 40, 15 min east of Asheville and situated on beautiful property. Sites 18-21 have babbling stream right beside site, other sites are well landscaped and provide ample room between rvs. Mountain view sites are breathtaking and will a wide and well-graded road makes it easy for large rvs to reach. Staff could not have been friendlier with Jerry even taking us on a tour of the campground. Tents sites are level, huge and nicely situated. Camping cabins, with swing on front porch are adorable and many next to stream. And the bathrooms and laundry facilities are so clean you could eat off the floors. Cannot say enough nice things about Mama Gertie's! Added bonus, nice Ingle's grocery story just a couple of minutes away.
