Per their website being open all year I drove there without calling. After all, why would they be full this time of year? When I got there, no plowed drive into the campground. No even a previous attempt which would be evidenced by plow piles. Completely untouched. So I called his cell phone. He answered and said they were closed because they have 5芒鈧劉 of snow and haven芒鈧劉t been able to get plowed out. No way near 5芒鈧劉 of snow that I could see. Perhaps 2芒鈧劉-3芒鈧劉. Maybe drifts that I couldn芒鈧劉t see in the interior? Obviously haven芒鈧劉t been open since any kind of substantial snow amounts fell. Not a big deal to me. I went to the other all year round campground in area. Super nice facility which I doubt Gitche would have been based on the crumbling signage near the road.

Update on previous review. Other campers are have been in contact with the same story of no disclosures and no refund practice. Eastern Michigan BBB has them rated as 芒鈧揊芒鈧. Do not do business with them. If you were ripped off file a complaint also with the Michigan Attorney Generals Office Consumer Affairs.

Buyer beware. The campground has complaints with the Michigan Better Business Bureau and the Michigan Attorney Generals Office. My experience was making a reservation in February for July8-12. The asked for a letter and the check. Due to gas prices and Covid we contacted them June 20 to cancel. They did not know we had a reservation even though they cashed our check in February. We never received a confirmation, campground policy or our refund. They need to close down. P

September 3021. Rates; $70+/ night. Electric and water. As others have said, long past it芒鈧劉s prime. Nothing on their web site is correct. Lots size is nice but not remarkable. No long fudge making, movies, WiFi, common building and other claims. They did put in a craft beer bar for serving their beer. $5 a glass so priced fair. This place is past do for a major renovation. I cannot recommend this place at all, but it does appear to be popular. Also it looks like the DNR closed off the league beach access across the street.

Started off ok. Pulled in and navigated to office despite rough, muddy, dirt roads. Went to check in and the owner welcomed us and began searching through little white squares of paper staples to receipts that were taped on wall, desk, and in floor before finally finding our reservation. That芒鈧劉s fine we can appreciate the charm of doing things the old fashioned way. When he confirmed our departure date I corrected him we were leaving a day before what he has written down. He apologized and said he would refund that night right away. Mind you one night was $65! Our site was good enough, woodsy. The campground had absolutely no extra amenities. Everything was no longer in operation. Looked like a fun place about 30 years ago. Long story short we stayed 4 nights and despite friendly reminders throughout our stay where he assured us he would refund us the extra night he mistakenly charged, he never did. We ended up calling a couple days after we left to again kindly remind him. This time he was so rude going off on us for no reason and finally ended up hanging up on us! We never did get refunded the extra night he charged us and his reservation system is so archaic that I didn芒鈧劉t have enough documentation to win a charge dispute with my credit card company. Truly unbelievable he got away with this. First time we芒鈧劉ve ever had such a blatant injustice at an RV park.

The campsites have woods around them. That芒鈧劉s the best I can say about the whole place. Our site, although with nice trees around it was not very level. There was no WiFi and no cable, but was the most expensive campground on our seven week trip at $59 a night. The clothes washers are so small, it takes two to do a normal size load (which, of course means more money for the owner). We had to go out and didn芒鈧劉t get back until after dark. We almost missed the campground as there was no light on the sign, nor anywhere in the entire campground. The owner has the campground for one reason - to make money any way he can. He appears to be the only one at the place, which I assume means he doesn芒鈧劉t want to pay anyone, so a lot of things aren芒鈧劉t done, no maintenance, and if you need something good luck on finding him. Try somewhere else if you can.

Sorry this place needs a complete overhaul. The bathrooms were terrible, no WiFi as advertised. It was the only campground available.

Very mixed. I totally understand the negative reviews but I liked the place. Very eccentric. Lots of quirky things to look at. We had full hook up so I never even went into the bathrooms. The owner has built all the buildings himself, hewn the lumber, hoisted the timber for ceiling and bills the lumber himself on site. Lots of interesting carvings. It is clearly a work of love for the owner but a lot has slipped; sites need new gravel; tent sites seemed very nicely wooded; RV sites less so. Surrounding woods have beautiful trails for hiking, biking, running. WiFi very spotty; we never tried for cable. I would stay again, short drive into Marquette; my husband would never go back; it was overpriced.

We got a tent spot on 8/12-8/13 2017. We stayed here despite a $40/night fee only because everywhere else was full.

Pro's: very wooded tenting spots across the road from a beach on Lake Superior.

Cons: the bathrooms are disgusting, showers are almost unusable. Both men's and women's bathrooms had no soap both days that we were there. No wifi as advertised. The roads to the tent area were wet sand and mud, barely passable if you don't have 4WD. $40 for a night would've been acceptable if it had all of the amenities that were advertised with decent bathroom facilities.

This could be a really great campground if it was maintained. Until this happens, I would stay elsewhere.

To the remarks already made, I'd add that this is the most expensive night we have experienced, ever. It is close to the beautiful Lake Superior and sunset was very nice.
