Don't go here. I was going to stay here but a friend who had been there told me that the bath facilities were not well maintained, if at all and that there were potential safety hazards. Fortunately, I ran into another person where I camped instead and she had been at Gitchee Gumee and left. She stated that the Board of Health showed while she was there and told her that it was one of many inspections due to repeated complaints. Ant the owner had screamed at her when she complained about the cleanliness of the facilities. While I don't have personal experience, what I have heard is enough to raise a huge red flag and other potential "victims" should be aware of the conditions if they are considering staying at Gitchee Gumee.

Never have I seen such a dump of a campground. The bathrooms were moldy and DARK. Light bulbs burned out. No cable no wifi and no manager. This owner Jeff does it all himself and it shows. Dirt or mud for roads and just overall filthy.

Mostly disturbed about the price - $$$ didn't mean much in this case!

If rustic means run down, this campground qualifies. Advertises cable but no cable. Owner says it's too expensive. Has potential is the best thing I can say about it. Owner should have offered discounts because of lack of amenities. Overpriced.

Didn't know what to expect as we drove in, but turned out to be a great stay! Sites are literally carved out of the trees, but they are level and plenty of room for 40+ foot motorhomes. Everything is 'rustic' but electric is good, cable TV is good, and the sites are level. Owner has been here for years, and is interesting to talk with!

This is the most dishonest man I have ever felt with. I made a reservation for four days the first of April. I called three weeks later to cancel because of a medical emergency ( three weeks before we were due to camp there ) and told the owner, Jeff, that we needed to cancel. I told him to keep one day of the reservation to pay for his inconvenience. He said he would do that. Four weeks later and no credit. I spoke with him three more times looking for the credit. He said he would have his girl take care of it! Called today and he hung up on me and no credit. DO NOT go there or trust him.

The entrance to the site has some nice sculptures, a bit unusual. The sites are nicely shaded and reasonably sized and reasonably level. We had no phone reception and no local hotspot, so there was no internet. There was some TV reception. The water was discolored and smelled bad and was undrinkable due to high iron content.

RV sites are nicely spaced with trees. Well water is a rust color due to iron content and has a metallic smell. Roads and sites are dirt and become muddy with lots of rain. Campground most likely would appeal to children but we found it to be too eclectic for our tastes.

While not a standard camp ground it provides a change of pace. From amazing stone art to eclectic metal work this location is as great place to relax with quick access to the beach.
We loved the step out of the ordinary.
As a side note all water was well with high iron content not good for rv hookup as with most parks in this area. Fill up your fresh water tanks from a city water before hitting any parks in the area.

Nice location, but poorly managed. Bathrooms were dirty. Personnel was helpful, but appeared overwhelmed. Very eclectic
