This campground is nice, but no frills. We stayed in the summer, and let me be clear… you are in a swamp. Mosquitos everywhere. Just know that if you plan to come in warmer months. Facilities were clean, easy enough back in, registration was quick. Better than staying in a sketchy neighborhood in New Orleans! See my camping travels on YouTube and Instagram @pagingdoctormegan

We came here in March and staged our trips into the French quarter from. The park is clean and they have numerous trash cans around the camp loops. It’s amazing that this park and bayou can exist and actually thrive so close to an urban center. It is a great place to stay when you’re going into New Orleans S it’s only 20 minutes or so from the WW II museum and the French Quarter. Nice and quiet during evenings as well, though we were here in March, not during busier times

The park looks much different than the beautiful photos we saw online. Though no fault of the state management. Hurricane IDA (AUGUST 2021) uprooted and snapped many trees in the camp area. In the day use area it looks as if they cut and cleared the damaged trees.Toppled trees in the camp ground loop were trimmed to allow access to roads and camp site usage. We stayed 9 nights with some Heavy rain at times and saw no problems with flooding in our area (#70) as stated in another post. Laundry rooms were clean (2 washer/dryers) $1.75 each. Bathrooms were clean. 6 foot alligator walked out of water and onto wooden boardwalk near laundry. (Pretty cool video) saw a few in lake area (in the water). They were no trouble for us! However A father nearby was pretty concerned about his kids and spoke to park employees. We found our camp site different than the photo on the state website. Spacious site with BBQ and fire pit. Had to put wood cribbing under 1 leveling Jack on grass area behind asphalt driveway. Our rig is 60’ total so our 50’ camp site was ample. Wheels still on pavement. Wish we could have visited prior to hurricane IDA as they had nice walking paths and a spacious and well throughout design We stayed March 2nd 2022

May 2021:State park 30 minutes from the downtown shenanigans. Great if you want mosquito bites and armadillo sightings. This state park is essentially in a swamp, almost every site has standing water around it and at night it sounds like frogs are moving in. Excellent if this is what you are looking for. Our kids especially loved the playground, bike trails, and meeting kids (this place was packed). Saw 5 alligators under bridge in the way to campsite! Facilities where old, but very clean. Laundry looked great, but we didn’t use it in our two night stay. Pool was closed, not scheduled to open because of Covid.

Nov. 2020: Stayed here in the off season. Here are the pros and cons as we saw them:' Pros: Sites are GREAT! Spacious and each has a concrete and/or wooden patio. Staff and folks very friendly. Very close to New Orleans as well as the Bayou. Cons: Bathrooms were fair. Sanitary but the floors weren't washed when they cleaned. We came here a week after Hurricane Delta hit this area, so they may have been busy with restoration. Might be better in-season. WiFi only available near bathrooms and slow, but usable. Overall I would give this place a thumbs up, especially if you're self-contained.

Great park as we have continually experienced with Louisiana state park systems parks, will return, about 8 miles from downtown NOLA , parked and used street cars around town , don t miss the fresh seafood market near the park entrance , they have it all either fresh or cooked

This "review" is precautionary in nature, as we decided to not attempt to bring our rig into the campground, and therefore cancelled. The staff was friendly, the pictures beautiful, but be aware that some sites are shown as separate campsites on their map, each with its own photo, but are really the same site shared. The photos are just two different angles of ther same site. They want both units to back in, which means one RV will have the pedestal on the wrong side, and both units may only put slides out on one side. If your neighbor is that close, and mistakenly puts their slide out, your rig would be damaged, Not to mention collision backing in or out. Not all sites are like this - only some- but it's not obvious from either the site map or the satellite photo. Otherwise a beautiful park.

We stayed here 12/27/19-1/2/2020. This park is great if you are wanting to visit New Orleans and save some money. Only about a 15 min drive to French quarters. All sites are paved, and appear to be pretty level. The after hours entrance is a little funky, I am glad we didn’t have to check in after hours. Well kept park, as others have stated. We will definitely be coming back. The only drawback I saw was that there was only 1 dumpsite, so plan accordingly when you leave and don’t be in a hurry. Overall we had a great trip and can’t wait to come back.

We stayed at Bayou Segnette for 2 weeks while visiting New Orleans. We loved it. The location can’t be beat, only a 25-30 minute ride to downtown New Orleans (which we found had abundant parking even with our big truck) or a $25 Uber. The sites here are so spacious we felt spoiled. Definitely review the map before booking your site and try to book a site on the outer loop versus inner... just feels even more secluded. All sites are paved and some have a deck. They were great and spacious enough to have our 2 dogs out on leads with plenty of room to roam. The park itself doesn’t have a ton of hiking trails or anything, but there are little boardwalk trails throughout and a long walk to the cabins so you can stretch your legs. PS. The cabins here are AMAZING (brand new builds right on the water) and if we ever come back to Nola without the RV we are staying there! The park staff does a good job of patrolling the area while not being too crazy about the rules. They pulled our Uber driver over for going 40 in a 20, but they are pretty chill overall. Other random things: It’s true that there is free laundry here, but since it’s free is not the best. Slow dryer and there’s always a wait.. but hey it is free! They allowed us to get packages delivered to their main office and kindly held it for us. The main entrance gate closes at 9pm and you have to use a separate side entrance after that time. It’s fine, but also doesn’t make a ton of sense because the side entrance is still open for anyone to use... so not sure how it’s a safety thing. PS. We never used the bathhouse or any of those facilities so we have no review of them. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!

Great place if you are visiting New Orleans! Wide spacing, super quiet. Free washer and dryers! Pretty area. Felt very safe. Half price with senior discount made it very inexpensive. Friendly staff. Easy to get to and maneuver around. Highly recommend!
