We stayed for two nights in a 24’class C. We were at site E21 which was near the water. The park has lots of shade trees and amenities, like kayaking, tennis courts, splash pad and more. Some sites can be a bit cramped with other campers encroaching other sites. Weekends can get a little rowdy and loud. There are spots that are roomier of course. Sections G,F, and H seemed to have the tightest sites. Lots of shade and not on the water. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is super nice and helpful. We would stay again but more selective in our site.

I spent time in the winter. Very few people were here. The water side of the road that divides the campground is windier and colder than the up hill side. I started in H22. The campground wifi has trouble in this area. This site is great because all that is between it and the water is tent camping, so there is a good view but it's far enough away to be less windy and warmer. I then went to D8. This has a beautiful view from inside my camper, but it can be very windy and cold outside. The campground wifi was good here. I had good Verizon data at both sites.

We stayed here in April of 2024. When we arrived we checked in and the volunteer camp host was nice and helpful. The campground was busy and I would estimate it was 90% full. The campsites are close together and in rows (think parking lot with grass) so you are surrounded on three sides. When we arrived our neighbors were encroaching into our campsite with three vehicles, lights, gear, etc., and they never removed it. While walking around the campground I noticed that many campers were encroaching on their neighbors site, so it appears to be a common practice here. There were several dog owners that did not have their dogs on a leash as required, and when I was admiring the Canada geese near the water, a woman came by with her two unleashed dogs and they started chasing the geese and they flew away. The town of Guntersville is cute with a Publix, Waffle House and just about everything else you may need. The folks in town were very friendly and nice. Alabama has a 3% food tax, so don’t be surprised when you get to the cash register. There are also five taxes at the campground…….. City lodging tax, County lodging tax, Lake Guntersville surcharge, Resort fee and State lodging tax which will add 16.25% to your campsite charge. The bathroom/showers were clean and the shower pressure was adequate, but when someone uses another shower or flushes the toilet the pressure and water temperature will fluctuate wildly. We wouldn’t stay here again because we like woodsy areas that are less crowded and have ample room between sites.

We stayed in site E34 for a week in January 2024. The campground was pretty empty as the weather hasn’t been very good. We gave 4 stars because while there are MANY sites here, most of them are close together and as others have mentioned, many of the sites are not very level. The lake is beautiful and the hiking trails and golf course are great! There’s a nice basketball court, and looks like tennis and/or pickleball court. There are MANY geese wandering around and lots of deer also.

Great State Park. One of the nicest one we ever been in. Beautiful lake with lots of bass and other species. boat and kayak rental available. Nice beach and bathrooms. Full hook ups, we drive 40-foot class A. Book early to get best spots. Nice restaurant up top of park.

The lady working the check in and after hours firewood sales is the sweetest! She made our very first check-in with our new camper super easy, fast, and understood clearly. As for the campgrounds themselves, the roads and parking areas are easily navigable. Backing in our 33ft camper for the first time into the angled spots was easier than I had imagined it would be. The spots aren’t exactly level, so ensure you have plenty of leveling blocks to get your RV set up correctly. First time setting up power, water, and sewage was easy enough. For sewage, I’d recommend hose support as some of the drains are elevated, to keep things flowing downhill properly. We are using a water pressure regulator and the water pressure was great, no issues there. Power was stable; it worked to power both ACs (15k and 13.5k), electric water heater, and all lighting without issue. The views of the lake, the playground, and the genera grounds themselves are all wonderful. My family and I will be staying here again for sure!

Great campground. Very clean sites, bathrooms were very clean. Full hook up, very kid friendly. AT&T, Verizon had 2 plus bars. Town is 30 mins to travel, but decent for what we did there. We really liked how they layout was with the campground, they had residents in the back of the park and short term upfront. Beautiful lake, plenty of deer to see. one day will def be back. Thank you

Very scenic campground with a beautiful lake. Very friendly ranger checked us in. Herds of deer nearby in the morning and evenings. We stayed in section B and had full hookups for our motorhome. No wifi, but 2 bars of ATT and Verizon. No issue working remotely. Even though we were further away from the lake still had good views. Site was gravel which got a bit muddy when it rained a few times, but not a problem. Also took a drive up to the Lodge at the top of the mountain and enjoyed some spectacular sunset views from their back terrace. Will definitely visit again.
