For Upper Grays Meadow Campground: This campground is a hidden gem! It芒鈧劉s 6 miles from Independence and the road is paved. At first I was hesitant since I芒鈧劉m a 60 year old single woman camping in my car, but there were families there and a camp host. Many sites in upper and lower Grays Meadow are shaded and near a cute little river. Some are out in the sun. I didn芒鈧劉t have reservations, but found a wonderful shaded, private site. It had a picnic table, fire ring, bear box and very clean vault toilets. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. There are some wonderful hiking trails. If you hike up the river, you芒鈧劉ll see some cabins and a dirt road that will take you up a hill for an amazing view of the valley. I felt perfectly safe because I could see the campground. I was so amazed at how nice this site was that I芒鈧劉m going to definitely come stay here again!

For Upper Grays Meadow Campground: Stayed here in October. The fall color was at its peak and the rabbit bush aglow. The views from our campsite were very pleasing The restrooms were immaculate and although the pavement was narrow and chewed-up, overall the campground seemed well-tended. The only drawback was a probably temporary one 芒鈧 the sounds of numerous heavy trucks rumbling up the road, reportedly repairing a washed-out road further up the valley.
