For Hawk Recreation Area: This was the quietest campground we have ever been to over a period of 50 years. We were there for ten days including the Fourth of July weekend. The campsites were comfortable. We were in a 19 ft trailer. It is reached via narrow somewhat steep forest roads. It is a carry-in, carry-out campground. The toilets are old-fashioned pit toilets. You have to pump the available water and the water is very, very rusty! So you should probably bring your own. The area is beautiful, peaceful and private. We had a wonderful stay.

For Hawk Recreation Area: The camping sites are small and feel like they're right on top of each other.
We hiked through the woods and found a nice stream. The woods are beautiful to hike through but with no real hiking paths it could be easy to get lost. So be careful.
