For Fort Wilkins Historic State Park: We were looking for a campground that would allow us to explore the northern end of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on a weeknight in August.

There are 2 sections to this campground - east and west with Fort Wilkins in between. We stayed at the west campground. The staff was friendly and helpful. The campground was clean and well maintained. Sites were mostly shaded. Sizes of the sites varied. There was limited wifi, best accessed near the rest rooms - picnic tables gave it away. There is no Verizon/ATT coverage.

All sites in the west CG were a short walk from Lake Fanny Hooe. There were nice walking trails to Copper Harbor, Fort Wilkins, lighthouse viewing and the boat ramp. There were trails to the very point of the Keweenaw Peninsula that were best suited for off road and not road bicycles.

For Fort Wilkins Historic State Park: Nice camp hosts. Campsites small. Mine had grass (114) but a friends was all dirt (168). Location great.

For Fort Wilkins Historic State Park: The West Campground (4 stars) is the nicer of the two campgrounds with well defined private sites . On a busy weekend the East Campground (3 stars) can feel like crowded tent city.
