For Bagby Recreation Area Merced Irrigation District: Reasonably good facilities, partly due to the fact that the area burned a couple of years ago. Sites with electric and water hookups are nicely located along the water although when we were there (February) the water level was quite low. The hookup sites are quite level and easy to back into. However, they were quite exposed to high winds. We moved to a non-hookup site because of the wind. The campground has quite a few trees but most are oaks. Since oaks lose their leaves in winter, I couldn芒鈧劉t tell if they were alive or dead from the fire. There isn芒鈧劉t much low vegetation so there wouldn芒鈧劉t be much privacy if it were crowded. However, in February there was no one else in the campground during the 2 nights we were there. The only people we saw were employees making regular rounds and a couple of fishermen. The campground shows a bit of neglect in that there was a bit of trash here and there and the bathrooms had dead leaves and some dirt on the floor that looked like it was blown. I suspect there was not maintenance being done because of the very low level of usage (the employee we talked to was very surprised to see anyone staying there). The bathrooms are ok, with flush toilets and showers. However, there doesn芒鈧劉t appear to be hot water (I didn芒鈧劉t use it). The shower had only one control knob with a 芒鈧揅芒鈧 on it. Overall it was a great place to go for people looking for a quiet off season place with lots of privacy. Not sure I could recommend it at a busier time of year.
