It's wild to think that I passed a KOA (albeit more expensive, with much simpler access), and went through this Blue Ridge Parkway detour (to their credit, mentioned on their website) to stay at Fancy Gap Campground. The approach is currently a hinky, steep, narrow, part gravel and convoluted, single lane for about 5 miles. And when we finally got there, in the raging wind, after wondering if we were doing the right thing even staying here, the owner wanted $10 for early check-in. We were 45 minutes early. I thought he should be paying me to stay here with the effort it took to get here! And he wasn't budging on the $10 either. It's a small campground operation in what is probably a good location at other times of the year but I would turn in at the KOA if there was a "next time." (***Water pressure at Site #1 was nearly non-existent.)

Great location along the Parkway. Owned and run by a very friendly family. We have a 22’ trailer and camped in pull thru site 3. We will definitely be back to enjoy the much cooler weather in August.

First time visit in Aug. 2020. We have a 40’ Motorhome and found the park difficult for this size rig. Steep grade in and out of the site area. All dirt and gravel roadways. Charlie , the manager, is very welcoming and helpful. All hookups were very good , no cable but good antenna reception. Easy on and off the Parkway. Bottom line, okay for smaller rigs but if you have larger RV you might want to reconsider.

This is a really nice campground. It is fairly small but offers several options for staying. They have full hook-up RV sites, cabins, a small motel, and tent camping. Our site was nice and level and was right next to a large field / orchard for the kids to play. They have some trails through the woods for hiking also. The bath house was very clean with individual bathrooms with showers. The owners were very nice and keep everything very clean. The location is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway and very convenient to I-77.

Where do I begin to sing the praises of this campground? It is the best and most beautiful we have ever stayed in. The natural setting is gorgeous - right on the Blue Ridge Parkway with lovely vistas. A short walk up the Parkway is a magnificent overlook. We stayed in site #1 which is at the highest point of the campground right next to the apple orchard. So quiet and peaceful. The bath house is pristinely clean. The owners are so accommodating and friendly. They helped us out with a plumbing problem, lent us tools, recommended places to go for RV supplies. And the price couldn't be more reasonable. Great WIFI, too, and a laundry. Just 10 short miles down the parkway is the Blue Ridge Music Center where there is a free jam session every day from 12-4. What a treat! Would definitely stay there again and again and again.

Nice, small campground. Very clean bath house, nicely landscaped property with peach and apple orchard.Peaceful and quiet. Convenient to I 77. Small cabins and a motel on property. Owners very nice people. Right off skyline drive and about 8 miles to Hillsville where they have a fantastic flea market every labor day weekend. We'll be back.

campground but the first time in writing a review. The campground has a variety of camping options, tent, cabin, motel and RV full hookups. This is favorite spot for us. We have been traveling around the US now for 3 years. I prefer smaller campgrounds with all the amenities and this one matches everything on my list. The campground is very clean with grassy hills and beautiful views. The Blue Ridge Parkway scenic overlooks are within easy walking distance and the foliage is amazing, so green with bountiful wildflowers everywhere. Sites are gravel side by side and surrounded by woods and grass meadows. It is quiet and peaceful and very pet friendly!

Very nice campgrounds. Very clean although we did not check out the bathhouse. Grounds were immaculate and well-maintained. Just down the road by couple hundred yards from a Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway Overlook stop. We stayed for three nights and took the time to visit Mount Airy and the Blue Ridge Music center. Access to the park from I 77 is a small drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fancy Gap also has a trailer repair shop nearby for anything you need. Overall well located and very clean. Next time we stay we would probably pick a site where our neighbors sewage drain was not 4 feet from our picnic table.

What a nice place. Immediately off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hiking trails, reasonably level sites (you are in the mountains), nice shower/bathrooms and more. I would recommend this campground to everyone. Online reservations with site photos and availability calendar. All with excellent onsite owners.
