This is a beautiful park! I wished we lived closer to enjoy it more frequently. We had campsite #215 and it was a pull through with a lake front access. There needs to be a repair made to the parking pad. The step down to the picnic area was a bit precarious. Other than that, a beautiful park !

This is one of the cleanest quietest state parks. Beautiful Lakeview campsite. Nice camp store, swimming, boat rentals. It芒鈧�鈩�s just me and my wife and we had a great weekend relaxing and enjoying our time. Many different types of sites available and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful.

We cannot say enough good things about this park. We just dropped in overnight on our journey back from DisneyWorld. We had planned on staying in DFW area, but because of reviews decided to stay at Tyler SP. We have 45ft 5th wheel. They put us in an amazing pull through (spot 34) that had an amazing view of lake. Park is small, but breathtaking. We have 6yr old child and 2 dogs. Never felt uncomfortable about them running around. We are always super careful about the spots we are put in due to our length. We had plenty of room in this spot. This was also a full hookup spot-which is super nice for state park price. I can imagine this place stays booked up. We lucked out. We did have a few curious nighttime visitors芒鈧�鈥漟amily of 4 raccoons. They were harmless, just don芒鈧�鈩�t leave trash out. Highly recommend Tyler SP!!! :)

This is a great park. We had the place practically to ourselves (mid-february), but it looks like it gets very crowded at other times of the year. RV sites are nice (but often have sloping pads), particularly in the Lakeview Loop. Perfect lake for kayaking, and fishing can be good. Verizon cell and data signal marginal, but can pick up wi-fi (from Lakeview) from the camp store across the bay. Over air TV very good. As others have noted, raccoons are a pain at night.

We stayed here, in the Lakeview area, in our 25' RV during the week, end of Feb. 2017. I oscillated between 5 and 4 stars, but went with 4 since we didn't have a view of the Grand Tetons. :-) This is a beautiful park and very well kept up. I didn't get the feeling we were surrounded like meth labs, as can be the case. It was spotlessly clean. No doubt, this was in large part due to the wonderful camp hosts (Kathy and her husband and their cat Luigi). Sadly, they don't stay there year round, but I have to assume the next ones will be good as well. The bathrooms were among the cleanest we've encountered. Our campsite had full hookups, a picnic table, fire ring with adjustable grate, lantern pole and concrete pad. We had a back in site, but there were numerous pull-throughs. It has plenty of shaded spots and they have ample room around them, so you're not on top of your neighbors. We set up our ENO hammocks and could easily have had room for a tent had we had that need. We noticed a couple of other RV campers had tents for their kids. Speaking of shade...most of the trees are tall and thin...pines & oaks, so I would say most RV's won't have to worry about branches scratching the paint. Just know your satellite dish may not work in most spots. At least in the Lakeview area. Definitely needed leveling blocks. There was firewood that you could leave money for (honor system) over by the camp hosts spot. The lake is nice and clean. You can rent boats, fish and there is a nice swimming area, but since we were a few days before the busy season (March - Oct), things weren't full-swing yet. We had a nice hike around the lake. Easy, shaded and pretty. There are ample hiking trails and some biking trails. Because this is so close to Dallas, it's a nice getaway for many people wanting to escape the city, so I'd say, during the peak season, reserve early to get a spot on the weekend. I hear it books up. We will go back for sure. The camp store is well-appointed. Only complaint was the raccoons! WOW! The little buggers were super sneaky and stole half of a prime bone in ribeye right off the grill! Some other campers who go there a lot said they are a problem at this park. Don't walk away from your food for a second and don't leave a cooler outside, since they can easily open it and have a nice meal! The Park Ranger said beginning in Dec 2017, you can book site specific spots online. Right now, you can only reserve an "area", and it's first come, first served for the space. The day use is $3/person per day plus camping spot was $28/day. We got a state park pass for $40 at check in...that enables you not to pay the day rate and gives you half off your 2nd night. Will pay for itself if you use it twice for 2 nights/3 days. Hope this helps!

Very nice park with beautiful swimming area and nice park store. I travel 365 days per year and this is the most expensive park this year. The cost was $40 for one night. I arrived late and was very tired or I would have gone elsewhere. Comparable parks in Oklahoma and Arkansas are around $20-$22 per night. I would have given higher rating except the cost. The campground was nice but noisy neighbors.

Stayed Oct 2015. Had beautiful site on very picturesque lake. Very crowded and it should be. Have to make reservations in advance for a good site. Mosquitoes in evening like normal everywhere.
