Campground was in beautiful setting. Stayed on lower level. Site was far from level. Only 3 stars, because campground was scheduled for paving and we weren't notified when reserving. Reservation system said only one site available however, numerous empty sites both nights we stayed. Stayed in a motor home.

Would be higher but no hookups. This is a nice campground, very quiet. The Center Lake campgrounds are specifically for same-day reservations, and you can call starting at 6am or try to reserve online at that time. The park is heavily used so this is a good option. Hot showers at the lake, and there are water pumps. Dump station at visitors center. The park is wonderful. Great drives, great hikes, near many good attractions.

This is the quietest, most spacious, shadiest campground in Custer State Park. Beautiful lake, pine covered lots, still very accessible to everything in the park and directly next door to a delightfully unexpected playhouse with summer theater productions. You can get creekside sites with the somewhat loud "white noise" that accompanies it or choose the upper sites closer to rocks/boulders for kids to play on. Great campsite all around. (There are 2 campgrounds - upper and lower - this review is for the lower campground which is closer to the lake)
