Stopped for one night midweek as we passed through in late Sept. Unattended entry fee station. The area was deserted save for one unattended trailer and one other far down the beach. Basically dispersed camping down a number of sand roads leading the beach around a drying reservoir. Each road leads to a parking area with a vault toilet and dumpster. No potable water at the dump station. Not a great value at $20 for non-residents.

The lake is now far away and much smaller (at least in july), still a nice view. We stayed for one night and were the only campers. It was very quiet, but you need to take a sand road. Toilet is there, but just a hole.
