I have to say this place is lovely. It’s a historical fort and I would say it offers an important lesson in soldiering and (the tragic) story of Native American life from the 1870s onward. Rebuilt and original buildings are quite beautiful and kept very well. The park offers lodging for large groups to families that might like a picturesque cabin. We are staying in the red cloud campground with full hookups. The campsites are clean and decently spaced and it is quiet at night. Very nice for $35 a night. However, now the downside. When we went to register upon our arrival we were told that since we are not from Nebraska we had to pay a non-Nebraska park permit of $70 for our RV AND an extra $35 for our tow vehicle as all motorized vehicles within the park must have a valid park permit. Yes they do explain this on our paperwork. So I suppose the fault is ours. But be forewarned. We have traveled extensively and this is by far the most we have ever paid for state park entry. Now the good part. Get the full hookups. There are two showers (not bathhouses) for the two gampgrounds and they are $2 for six minutes. Coin machine available outside showers. The pool is an inside pool and is $6 for children and $7 for adults. Be sure to read the rules before going in. There are numerous activities, all with a price, from trail and jeep rides to bicycle and kayak rentals. Two museums on site and are very good but they charge also. There are some old buildings to look at and they are free. The park is very nice and I’m sure it costs for maintenance. But you would think for what we paid to get in there would be something more in the offering. I feel that since we are not from Nebraska that we are frankly discouraged from visiting. Thank you but we will not be back.

We were very pleased with our campsite. We wish we could have explored the park, but we were passing through and only stayed one night.

Nice place for one or two days. Red Cloud Campground is paved ,level sites with full hookups and plenty of trees on the inner circle. There is no bathhouse in Red Cloud, but a nice one in the Soldier Creek Campground. Lots of history around the Fort with plenty of things to do and lots of hiking trails. We rode our bikes into town-Wow, not much there.

Wonderful place. Level concrete parking. Easy back in. Lots of activities. Lots of history. Signage is poor. Check in at the main office.

We really enjoyed this park. Red cloud campground is shaded mostly, level concrete sites, easy back-ins, and spacious. The park itself is full of history and well worth spending a day exploring it, including the historical museum. Crazy Horse was murdered here and you can learn about that as well as other very tragic events relating to the Indian Wars, and the entire history of the fort itself, which worked through WWII. Lots of hiking including the red cloud buttes. Great place to ride your bike too. If you use bathroom/shower facilities, you won’t have them at red cloud campground. When you first arrive, park in front of the lodge, this is where you register.

Great park! Sites are spacious, easy to back in, the views are amazing, just as a tip the office to register is across the street look for the blue sign

We liked staying in the Red Cloud loop of the campground. Only stayed one night but would stay for longer. Just a short walk away from all the Fort attractions. Easy hook-ups, not packed like sardines. On your GPS, use Fort Robinson as destination. Campground is in the park, just past the registration bldg. Well maintained.

Other reviews from this year are accurate. Nice park setting, lots of activities and history here, well maintained, clean. You have to pay for showers, which at first seemed odd but it wasn’t more than a dollar for a reasonable shower and it kept the riffraff out. We would definitely stay here again

Loved this park. I took away a star only because it was crowded feeling when it was full on the long weekend. And the washroom/shower building is quite a hike. We stayed with full hookups in Red Cloud Campground. Soldier Creek has electric hookups but there is a water fill and dump station on the way in. Lots to do. Wagon rides, trail rides, jeep rides, museums, history, small evening rodeo, live theatre until Aug 15. Great biking (just watch out for tire "stickers" in late August.) We stayed on the roads after having to fix our tires. Park is very well kept and lots to see and do. I couldn't help but feel so relaxed after a couple days. We extended by 2 days and still hated to leave. Lots of day trips from this area, too...Toadstool Park, Hudson Meng Bison Kill site, Fur Trade Museum, Agate Fossil Beds Monument....

We stayed here in August 2014. We enjoyed full hookups in this mostly treeless campground. The hookups are unusually placed so make sure you have extra sewer hose as you might need it. The park itself is worth an extra night's stay if you are just traveling through as we were. The jeep tour was worth the cost! The stagecoach ride was fun just for the experience! We didn't use the pool, but they have a beautiful indoor one. Also you can sit on the porch of the Inn and use their wifi!
