Lovely little park. We were there in late March right after they opened for the season. We had the place to ourselves. We did change campsites. The site that we reserved was lakefront but not at all level. It would have been impossible to level our 32’ FW. Almost all the waterfront sites where slopped toward the water, they should be saved for tents or very small rigs. We switched to the flatter sites in the interior. We still had a 270 degree view of the lake. All the sites are large. Very quiet that time of year. The bathhouse was rustic, without heat so we showered in our RV. Rangers did make rounds 4-5 times a day, but were friendly and helpful. We kept our adult beverages in thermal cups as not to be obvious. We hope to return with tent camping family members for another off season adventure.

Nice campground, well kept, maintained. Bathrooms need updating. Two stars due to heavy police (state ranger) presence and way outdated NC rules regarding personal protection and alcohol rules. State rangers heavy handed and misuse the badge they wear. Do not go here if looking to relax and have fun
