As others have already said, this state park is a great state park- especially for a quick getaway. Despite the fact the park is relatively close to Raleigh/Durham, it’s quiet as if you’re a bit more off the beaten path. The only thing that interrupts the peace and quiet are the occasional passenger planes in and out of RDU. However, the portion of approach/departure they’re on puts them at a altitude that isn’t too bothersome. The spaces are fairly spread out, have a ton of space (including a space for the RV and a large area for relaxing), most spaces offer ample shade, and those near the lake offer peeks of the lake (most are obscured by the trees). One of the best things to us was the late checkout (3pm) which allowed us to take our time. Bathrooms were clean and the dump station offers two parallel lanes to minimize holdups. With the late checkout and a full campground we had zero issues leaving. For those interested in a swim, the swim beach is a short 1 mi bike/car ride and there are numerous short trails. I will caution that ticks are present so definitely recommend checking for them.

Very nice camping facility. Good cell service (Verizon), nicely spaced sites, hot showers in bathrooms. Enjoyed hiking the nearby Mountain-to-Sea Trail and paddleboarding on Falls Lake. The only downside I noticed was that the trees covering access to some of the sites are too low. I would guess the branches on trees covering access to our site were trimmed about 10' up, which made for lots of interference with a 13' tall trailer. No damage but undersirable nevertheless. Also, the picnic tables are chained and staked so that they can't be moved. Overall, a great place to spend a couple of days...

Beautiful state park. Well maintained, super clean. The showers and bathroom could use a little TLC but very clean. The sites are spacious and layout is great so that you’re not elbow to elbow with your neighbor. We were here mid March and there were only a handful of campers. The sites only have 30 amp power and water. We were in a 43’ class A and had no trouble finding a spot to fit us. Highly recommend this park.

This is a beautiful state park. It’s beautifully wooded and on a lake. The only issue is that the sites are inconsistent form site to site. Some are level others aren’t.

Older park ...30amp no sewer .. sites not level but big ... clean and safe... some on the lake through trees , very wooded ... stayed in a Motorhome, pulling ... search for a site before committing to one.

Great campground. Quiet in fall. Same booking fee whether online or at gate added. Not all spaces are level, so worth looking first.
