Great free spot, about fifteen minuted from highway, right past Teutonic trailhead. Located at Mojave Memorial Cross. Three spots at the memorial - we took the one directly behind the memorial, which was great. There芒鈧劉s a dirt path leading to at least three more sites, but we couldn芒鈧劉t make it out there in our minivan.
Very quiet (some distant car noise), great view of the stars. A bit cold and windy in the morning. We arrived at 10pm on a Wednesday and there were many spots still available.
