Affordable campground ($20/night) on shore of San Luis reservoir. Easily accessible sites off gravel road include shaded picnic tables and garbage service; no electric, water, or sewer. Many sites are also shaded by trees. Pleasant, quiet. Will definitely stay here again when in area.

Good spot on the water but we left early because the flies are terrible.

Those who have travelled up the I-5 Corridor in California know that there are not very many places to stay. This little state campground right on the O'Neill Forebay reservoir is a perfect stop over close to the freeway and very inexpensive by California standards. $20 a night. There are no hookups it's complete dry camping, there are concrete picnic tables, fire pits, porta potties, and barbecues. It's quiet, we stayed right on the water's edge with nothing but wildlife breaking the silence. There were a few fishermen going after striped bass and catching some. We will definitely return when traveling through this area and looking for a stop over, it was great. We were in our truck camper but larger rigs should be able to get in with no problems. The road is gravel but well-maintained and the sites are large and easy access.
