Great location and cool hikes around. Caution! The dirt road in the campground area has lots of sharp, volcanic rocks. Really our only complaint tho. Sites are pretty far a part and there are some are pull throughs. We got in and out with our 27’ trailer. Water spigot with hand pump on your way in. Vault toilet. Nice views of mountains, $6 a night.

Agree with other reviewer - terrific spot, very quiet. No noise from 395. $6/night ($3 with senior pass). The only water (giant hand pump) is located by check-in kiosk. Info at kiosk notes which camps are RV sites, which have easy pull-thrus.

Awesome little offshoot from the road! Campsites were well tended and it’s fantastic for tent camping and small RVs. We did an overnight here anrealky enjoyed it.
We saw the most incredible moonrise here ever. Looked like the sun coming out at night.
The Fossil Falls themselves were also impressive - a unique experience right off the highway - don’t miss it!
Water well was as advertised.

Loved this place! Stayed for a night in MidApril, in a 24 foot trailer. Only eleven sites, but only 2 other campers, and the sites are so huge and spread out you can't see them. Nice and quiet out here, lots of flowers. The vault toilets were clean and odorless. The "Falls" are a lot of fun to explore! It was windy, but less windy in the Falls. No water here, that we could see, but a very nice handicapped camping spot was noted.

Wonderful lava field that's easy to miss pulling off 395 for this scenic hiking spot. Great cell signal. Quiet despite being close to the highway, the hills block the noise. Widely spaced camping spots.
