Not sure this is entirely a useful review, but here goes. This site is NOT open year-round. In mid-April the gate was barred and locked even though someone from Forest Services came and parked outside the gate the following morning. Seemed to confuse several other campers, too, as we were not the only ones there. On the plus side, there is a large level area outside the gate where we did set up and enjoyed the (mostly) quiet area and lovely views. Just not sure we needed to pay the camp fee despite the sign saying camp fees are collected all year round.

Excellent campground. We camped in our 25ft TT and had plenty of room. Sites are pretty far apart so you don’t really hear your neighbors. Pit toilets were very clean and the trash is easy to get to. Hiking trails right off the campground so you don’t have to drive anywhere once you are set up.

We came to camp for 2 nights on our way home to OK. We like it so much we are staying another night. I love all the pine trees, Aspen, and hiking trails. Campsites are not crowded.

The campground is definitely open. The entrance is off the back of the parking lot. It is set up for tents and small TT. I have 30 foot TT and there was one site that I could fit in. It seemed to be a popular place for hikers and bikers. The elevation is around 8600 feet. Be careful opening containers that have pressure in them from lower altitudes.

This campground appeared to be permanently closed when we were there in June 2016. Since it was 6 pm when we arrived we just dry camped in the trailhead parking lot. Beautiful view of Medicine Bow National Forrest.
