★★★☆☆
Quiet campground on Crystal Reservoir. electric only, level site. Vault toilets. No showers, no dump, no water. Lots of flies. 5 miles of dirt washboard road to get there. Not worth the $50 price.

Had a reservation for two nights, but chose to leave even with the no refund policy. Staff were not helpful, site was 5 miles from park office on a dirt/gravel road where the site was perched on the side of a hill awkwardly shared with another camping unit. Possibly there are other sites better, but the staff were unwilling to help me determine another site since I had already reserved and paid for the one I had and they had a no refund policy. I left, not one I'd recommend unless you know the sites and know what you are getting.

If you're looking for a quiet, semi-primitive place to overnight, Curt Gowdy SP is a good option in this area.

Views are pleasant and in May there were few enough visitors to provide a great deal of privacy. There are opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. The visitors center (open 9a-5p) is new and very nice, including immaculately clean coin-operated showers.

Other aspects of the park are more of a work in progress. Some sites are level; some are not. The dump station is closed with only vague plans for a new one to be built. There appear to be a few electric sites, but we did not try them. Dumpsters are scarce. So, be prepared to be self-sufficient.

All in all, we would stay here again in our camper van.
