We went over to the Famcamp on base. We were told that they close the Clear Lake recreational area after Labor Day.

09/11/24: We arrived at 5:30pm to a locked gate. The hours of operation sign said CLOSED for all days of the week. Perhaps it鈥檚 closed for the season? ??鈥嶁檧锔 I thought it was open until the end of September. No one answered when I called at 4:30pm Three stars for neutral.

Beautiful setting by the lake! They offer FHU, e/w only, and dry camping options. There is a small store and restaurant. You can rent kayaks, canoes, and even pontoon boats at very reasonable prices鈥nd they are 1/2 price Mon-Thursday. Small beach to swim and play. Perfect place to stop for a night or make your destination for a week away. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This is not on base, but you must have a military ID to use.

Gorgeous lake with lots of activities available - playground, beach area, picnic areas, cabins and watercraft for rent. Water pressure was low at 30 but otherwise it was great. Sites are a little close together but it works.

Not sure why this CG is got lower star rating.
I enjoyed my stay here. I stayed here for 4 days. It has everything I needed. Reliable power, Good water.
I realize this place is due for an refurb but in a couple years the AF is going to get around to it. The RV sites need poured pads and to be re-leveled. They are mostly too short for larger MH's but that is part of the plan.
The Kitchen has been redone and they serve great sandwiches at good prices. The beach is perfect and they have a large tree shaded area near the parking row for picnics and such.
They also rent A large variety of watercraft. Just about everything from Paddle Boards to ski boats and Patio boats.
The managers are ending a 13 year run here this year so in the future there will be some changes. I just hope the new staff will keep the place moving forward.
I believe it is under utilized because it really wasn't full occupied and the lay out of the RV parking is dated and could be made more efficient. If they had 2 row parking instead of 1 I'm sure they would double the occupancy.

Sites are gravel and small, barely enough room for awning. Conveniently located near I-90, best thing about this FamCamp.
Dumpster is overflowing--we stayed here on a Monday. One would have thought it would have been emptied after a weekend. Showers were full of mold and mildew. Restroom is a port-a-pottie.
We will stay here again only because of the convenience and price.
