Beautiful area and driving Skyline Drive. Camped two nights Tue-Wed Apr 16-17, 2024 with last minute reservations; lots of availability. Clean, older facilities. Back of the campground was quieter and less populated but the Sites and roads need maintenance/grading. Did not check out the pay-showers/laundry. No cell signal. Nice hiking trails.

BIg campground, lots of families. Easy in and out, dump station was good. Grounds were generally in need of basic maintenance and upkeep. Several showers were non-functional. Great location.

Huge national park campground. You can’t beat the location. The campground itself is average. There were not enough showers for the number of spot (especially if two out of seven are out of order). We only stayed one night on our way through the park.

We really enjoyed this campground and central location in the park. Showers are new and clean. Separate charge for the showers, $1.75 for 5 minutes. It took a long time to get hot water but it’s fall and they weren’t being used a lot. We didn’t have reservations and we got in. So the Dark Hollow Waterfall hike close to camp it was beautiful.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds because there are so many hiking trails so close to the campground and surrounding area. We never tire of the beautiful mountains and the views along the Appalachian Trail.
The facilities are showing their age but they are kept very clean and are typically in good working condition. We usually camp here for 4 or 5 days at a time and come back almost yearly.
