Very good staff. Stayed at smaller campground with nice paved pads. 2nd time had one at end overlooking the wonderful lane (great bass fishing). No amenities on the actual military installation (it’s a mostly civilian depot so to be expected). Highly recommend.

We agree with the comments about friendly staff and wonderful sites. But never had such a difficult time getting to a camp ground on a military base. Following I-30 to exit 207 and entering the main gate on E Entrance Ave is all the directions you need. Anything else, will probably get you on a back road and a closed gate. That said, the main gate closes on Saturdays from 7:30 am to 4 pm just to add to your frustration when you are trying to leave or enter. During that time, the commercial truck gate will be open. We did not have to go to the Visitors Center like others have said when first coming into the gate. We did have to pull to the side while a security guard walked through our motorhome. Gaining entrance to the post may have been challenging, but we enjoyed the staff and our stay. Even when we couldn’t leave out the main gate on Saturday, a security guard was kind enough to lead us several miles to the commercial truck gate.

This was a delightful stop on our way from Phoenix to Atlanta campground is shady and spotlessly clean. You can see the lake from the campground very friendly staff. Nice laundry definitely will stay here again.

Campground is located on a lovely lake. The office staff is awesome, friendly, helpful! Things you need to know: 1. No WiFi at the park or anywhere on base that we could find 2. Water pressure at the campground is poor 3. Not all sites are level. Be careful selecting your site. 4. No cable tv. Impossible to use Dish Satellite because of trees. You can get some channels with antenna. 5. ALL visitors must register at the Visitor Center regardless of having a DOD card. Registration includes background investigation and takes about 15 minutes. We had not encountered this before at other military campgrounds. The reason given was the nature of the work they do requires them to know who is on the base, if the have warrants, have past criminal history. All that said if you are looking for a quiet campground away from tv, cell phones and other electronics this is your place.

What a wonderful and pleasant place! A great find!! So peaceful and quiet. We stayed in the smaller camp area. Nice wide flat paved pads. Round picnic tables. Full hookups. $20. It is deep into the post. So get ready for a drive once you get there. Signs make it easy to find. Google map took us to a gate on the south side which was closed! Do not go that way! Go to the main gate on East Entrance Avenue off of Highway 82. Exit #207 off of I-30.

After visitors hours arrival and turned away at the gate. Said I needed a reservation to be allowed to pass. First come first serve doesn't quite cut it with the main gate operators who don't recognize a valid DOD ID Card as proof enough to issue a pass. Kind of wondered what what have happened if I boondocked the visitor center and then ask for a pass without the MWR reservation. But I didn't. Anyway, my bad for not calling ahead but a lesson learned that this Base is not quite like any other.

We enjoyed our two night stay. Definitely come in from exit 207 and do stop at the visitor control center! As noted, the RV park is deep in the base but directions are good and there are signs. We stayed in the older section and the sewer and/or water/power are often on the wrong side...it's an older park and was built before RVs got so big! Staff are great. The sites are back to back and paved so if both are unoccupied you can pull through. The newer section is all back-in, but flatter and services are where RV folks expect them! The Lake and Beach are beautiful. We were in our 40' 5th wheel.

Awesome place to stay. I was told no reservation, just first come first serve. Staff was friendly and laid back. Cost me $15/night. Very important to come in on I30 exit 207, as maps are likely to lead you to gates that are closed. From exit 207 signage is pretty good. Gate guard informed me that I needed to visit visitors center before coming to gate, but on realizing it would be challenging for me to turn around, told me to just stop there next time.

The camp is particularly well suited to children 5 to 15. Beach, playground, nature trail, and boats available to rent. Camp is clean and has electric, water and sewer. Some sites are not very level and extra hose is necessary to reach water in places. There is a high percentage of long term campers.

Very nice but don't use the directions to the site with apple that takes you the back way which is closed.

Military secret!!! Found this place purely by accident and loved it! Take EXIT 207 to the gate and follow the signs to Elliot Lake. It's very deep on the depot grounds, but easy to find and well worth it! You will be surprised with the the recreation area! It had everything--a beautiful lake, fenced swimming area, lovely grounds, children's play ground, beach, kayak rentals, tall trees, rental cabins right on the lake and even a conference center that would be great for your team building sessions for an organization! It had full hookups but no cable or internet but that was no big thing for us. The stuff was very accommodating, polite and took great care of us! They even gave us popcorn. Their little store sells basic foods and needs to include $1 pickles! There is a fitness center on the depot but not else. We did see a few eateries probably for day workers. We loved site #1 even though it was not very level. The bath/showers were clean. Only cost us $12/night! Sure wish we could have stayed more than one night! Thank you so much!
