Great place close to downtown but outside the city. 12 dollar uber the Beale street. Only draw back is several of the site are not even close to level.

If you need a place to overnight near Memphis then this is a fine option. The drive in looks a little sketchy as it takes you directly through a rough looking area but keep going and you'll find this park tucked away in the park. It was clean and had a welcoming staff even though we arrived later in the evening. Great affordable place to over night.

This park would get a higher rating but the smell from the sewage treatment plant was so bad while we were there that we didn't want to spend any time at the park. While the bathhouse might be dated, for a state park, we found it pretty nice. Showers were roomy and hot with good pressure. The water at the dump site was turned off because it was winter which was annoying since the temps were well above freezing during our late winter stay. The sites are large but not very level. Probably wouldn't stay here again because of the smell!

this a gem on the edge of Memphis and is only 15 min from MEM airport. Although it is on the industrial side of town it's only minutes from interstate and minutes drive through lovely residential area to south and into MS.
The staff and rangers are extremely pleasant and helpful. We have stayed three times and the last was be close to the airport for my companion to make an early morning departure. A mechanical issue popped up the night before and the staff jumped right in to provide taxi info and even offered to take her to the airport.
The Yellow Cab arrived as promised with a very pleasant driver and provided professional service at a very reasonable rate.
The sites are placed among very mature trees and is pleasant walk around the loop.
A great place to stay if you are visiting or just passing through. Be sure to see the Owls in the check-in office that have been rescued and are being cared for.

Hot in the city so it was great to be in the shady state park. Free ice was very handy. Close enough for all we wanted to do. The museum was nice. Staff really friendly.
Updating needs to be done to restroom and showers.
Lots of space so not crowded as some RV parks can be.
Easy to get on and off the Interstate.

We have camped in several parks in Tennessee and this does not appear to be one of the state's top tier campgrounds. It probably isn't in the second tier, either.
The camping loop has lots of mature trees, but the negatives associated with the campground are the outdated and not maintained bathhouse and the occasional smell from the nearby sewage treatment plant.

We have stayed here twice with the first on March 5th, 2015 just after a snow storm. Now it is April 19th. Huge difference. This campground is very nice with paved drives and sites. They have a new washer and dryer and free ice. Most sites are well shaded and the staff is very friendly. Close to Graceland. Great rates for seniors too with 25% off. We paid $15 a nite. Would stay here again.

Great place for the price and location. Has an ice machine and laundry facility.

Ok if you want a rural camping experience but the big attraction was the chucalassa museum that unfotunately was closed on mondays when we visited. Not much hiking and a bit of maintanence is needed.
