The good: close to Mt Rushmore/Chief Crazy Horse and other things. Staff friendly, wifi fair, did try air TV. We streamed. Shade good, playground for kids, pool, small store, fire rings, tables. Landry. The bad: park needs updating, sites need a help there on a side of the hill and maybe at one time had gravel and was level, not so much now. The site that we had was tight, would not want to be here in a rain storm. We managed Why so many parks across the USA charge high prices and so many are so out dated??? The RV芒鈧劉ers need to demand better services. Parks are getting close to hotel prices.

We were tired, had traveled all day. Had not made reservations. Pulled into the parking lot and my husband went inside praying we would have a place to stay. We stayed a week. Moved once because we had not planned ahead. Camping spaces are close together but was not noisy. Full hook up, pool, laundry room. Little tired in places but they are fixing the campground up. Great price, all the staff were helpful.

We didn芒鈧劉t have reservations and were very tired after a big day of traveling and exploring. We left Crazy Horse Monument at dark and really needed something quick. I called twice and got voicemail but didn芒鈧劉t leave a message. Within two minutes I got a call back and they had vacancy! She said the guys would wait for us at the clubhouse. GPS took us into town and right as we were pulling to the first stop light the camp host called us and said 芒鈧搕he guys think you just passed us- they saw you drive by- are you in the town?芒鈧 Wow! She gave us the correct address and when we got there, sure enough- we had friendly, helpful faces waiting on us! It was a huge breath of fresh air because we were exhausted. They showed us to our sites (yes! In person, took us to them so we didn芒鈧劉t have to look!) and answered any other questions we had. The sites were clean and had full hook ups. I highly recommend Crazy Horse Campground for its exceptional customer service and clean grounds.

New owners as of last year. They are nice folks and work hard to make your stay enjoyable. We have a 38 foot motor home and tow. Spaces are cramped because resort built in the 80s. There are plans to make changes for bigger rigs. This is real camping with pine trees all around. Huge rocks for kids to play on. Pool was nice. Sites are level, but be prepared to navigate tight areas since this is not a concrete jungle. We will return. Bathhouse and showers were clean. Nice store too and FREE DVD borrowing.

We loved our stay at Crazy Horse Campground. The camp owners were super friendly and helpful. The owners guide you to your spot and then help you get backed in to your spot! The park is super clean and has nice big pine trees. We will stay again the next time we are in Custer.

The people that own this campground are absolutely amazing! Felt like I was home the second I walked into the office. Nice, clean restroom facilities and hot showers. The owners will go out of their way to accommodate you. Will definitely return!!!

Visiting South Dakota for two weeks in our motorhome. We found the Crazy Horse Campground in Custer, South Dakota. It is a very convenient location near Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and the beautiful lakes. We read the reviews before May 2017 and was concerned. We called and spoke to the new owners and was given a tour. We booked for 8 days. Clean showers, laundry room and a great camp store. Heated pool, fire rings and prompt response to all requests. Definitely worth a stay!

Drove through the area yesterday and discovered this park. From the road view we were skeptical when we arrived but so glad we looked around. The owners are outstanding and went out of their way to help us select 2 spots. Don't let previous reviews turn you off. They are extremely accommodating. We are staying 8 nights in a 40' motorhome.

New owners as of May 2017, with huge changes. Stayed here four nights in 40' MH and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some sites right by the highway without shade, but most sites are down the hill behind the office in a tall pines area - cool in the summer heat, and without any road noise. New owners are working hard to turn around the reputation, they were very friendly and helpful to us, essentially let us pick our own spot. The 50A sites are way too close together, practically touching slides, so we chose a 30A full hookup site with lots of room under the trees. Owners say they are going to restructure to add lots more 50A sites and to move the current sites apart. The park also has two dozen pretty little camping cabins. I also spoke with a couple of locals outside the park, and they said these new owners have done wonders in this season alone. You can see that the park used to be great, but it has been let go with erosion making many sites difficult. Owners just bought a tractor to start regrading; I expect that by 2018 season this place will be 5 stars.
