From first look…it looks like a great place, However…if you have pets or you like to walk..BE AWARE!! There are NO side walks or safe areas to walk. It appears they want you to rent golf carts and ride everywhere! Off season is okay… for us older folks but from what I have seen it is still iffy…you have to walk with Extreme caution as cars and carts alike still move fast. I would not stay again as I like to walk my fur babies and enjoy the scenery that I am in. This is certainly a tourist trap and I can not even imagine how congested and crowded it would be in the summer season. STAY AWAY! Is my advice.

We arrived on 10/30/21 Halloween day at campground (unknowingly). It was insane, crowded, busy, chaotic, party-time...but I guess that’s to be expected. There were golf car traffic jams...I kid u not!! The campground is a huge city in itself with tons of rv sites, house rentals, apt rentals etc. (not our cup of tea). The next days after Halloween we’re much calmer and quieter. Seems like all the campgrounds in the area have so many sites also!
It’s great for families, clean, and very close to tourist traps and close to beach...some sites r on the opposite side of the dune of the beach (which is cool). Lots n lots of rules (didn’t bother us).
The sites are very extremely TIGHT! (There r a very few that r a little bigger)... which is why I gave it a 1 star. Our 5th wheel barely fit the site length wise n our truck was so tight in the site n kind of stuck out in the road bec of a tree on the site. They really squeeze u in like sardines!
If u don’t mind tight sites and like a kids activity type of place...this is for u!
PS...campers can be such slobs...I can’t believe the garbage they leave on the ground when they pull out. The poor employees have to pick it up when they r gone. Very sad!

We stayed there from 4/22/19 - 4/27/19 in our 39’ 5th wheel in site 4054.
The campground as a whole is a great place to bring your family and spend vacation time. The Ocean Lakes Security is a bit overboard. That’s the only reason I didn’t give a 4 or even 5 star. Security should use some discretion. We didn’t have any issues but we witnessed the security hassling way too many kids. Almost all the kids we saw behaved fine.
Also the Sandy Meet & Eat line is outrageous. I think we waited 45 minutes in line to order food and another 45 minutes to get the food.
The staff is very friendly. The quick pass is a must have. Before you arrive, you can Get the window placard and drive right on in when you arrive.
Golf cart is a must.

If your idea of getting away from the grind is a massive rv parking lot with tiny camp sites, loud music and out of control golf cart traffic this is the place for you. It's not our idea of vacationing, way too stressful. We left early and went to one of the quiet state parks that also had beach views.

To the previous reviewer who gave 1 star because they wouldn't allow your Rottweiler: their pet policy clearly states no Pittbulls or Rottweilers (http://www.oceanlakes.com/about-us/poli Do your research first before trashing the place.
Very nice HUGE campground, like it's own self-contained beach town. Place is so big the golf cart rentals are a must if you want to get around. Has all the amenities you could ask for and right next to the beach. The general store has just about everything you could possibly need and the fast food place right next to it makes pretty decent breakfast/lunch/dinner food. They pack a lot of RV sites in the place and as a result it can be a little tight navigating a bigger rig around. The alleyways are narrow as it is and some rude people park their trucks so that they partially stick out, making it more difficult to get through. Not really the campground's fault but as with anything where there's a high concentration of people there will always be a few that are inconsiderate of others.
Also, being that it's a very family-oriented place there are a lot of teenagers roaming around at night. There's also fireworks every night and they don't always stop by the 11pm quiet hours rule so if you like going to sleep early keep that in mind.
All in all we had a great time and will definitely be returning.

Loved it. Its a huge place. Probably the best in the area. We cruised thru the other area parks and with the exception of Lakewood, they were not as nice as ocean lakes. Like all of Myrtle, prices were too high. Loved their huge pool. Sites fill up quick. They have a good on line booking system.

We pulled in to stop for a few days; they had little check in gates (that were empty) no signs with instructions. We proceeded to the guard gate. WOW what a jerk!! He started with an attitude immediately; telling us we needed to check in first...well duh this isn't our first rodeo. My husband asked where to go to get turned around and get to check in? He was actually yelling at us to just get out turned around and get out of there. Yep you can turn a 40' 5er on a dime. We couldn't wait to get out of there and needless to say we did not even bother to see if they had availability. Outta there. Suppose to be a nice Christian place with the bible verses posted everywhere. The guard should try practicing some of those. Seriously like we were gonna sneak in and steal a spot.

Refused to allow us to stay because we have a Rottweiler who has his AKC canine good citizen certification. Narrow minded people.
