Could not get our trailer up the slope to the site while backing in. Had to put in 4x4 mode, but even then, truck was sliding sideways downhill when trying to back trailer up the slope; site also was dog-legged, and trees made it difficult for the front end of the truck to swing. We went back to office, and they gave us another site, but this one had it's own problems - small hill with slopes on all sides, so it was nearly impossible to set up level, as either it wanted to tilt left-right, and couldn't get enough tongue jack to reach ground nor enough stablilizers to reach ground. Dirt roads are terrible, even at 5 mph, throwing us around the cab. Won't be back. A lot of sites aren't usable for normal size trailers, 5th wheels, or Class A & C. Tents oK I guess.

Very quiet and peaceful understanding the trees. Not on holiday or weekend , when we visited Can’t book on line the day of entry, but I called and they assured me of ample spaces. I have a Capri camper on the bed of my dually, so I had plenty of room. Saw lots of small tow behinds, and it didn’t look like much of a problem to park. Whole campground is hilly (Mountain in the name, duh), so some campers may need to level on site. Worth the extra if you want your peace to n the woods. Only charged me $23 for one nite, with 30 amp and water. Bath house clean and roomy.

Yes, the woods are lovely! The campsites leave ALOT to be desired. No laundry and you can only get WiFi at the trading post. They barely made an effort to make the sites level. Be prepared to stack level for blocks and crank your front Jack down! Stayed 4 nights while on my way east. It was on my route. My site (#39) was a pretty good site tho.

Staff was VERY helpful and pleasant. CALL ahead and they will give HELPFUL advice on which sites are more desirable. The road through the campground is a little rough in places, but then again, there's a 5mph speed limit for a REASON. The on-site bathroom/shower facilities are adequate. We're a former military family so the comparison was that it's not as nice as USAF, but definitely not as bad as USAR (Army). Bathroom/showers were CLEAN. The campground is CRAZY crowded on weekends but clears OUT on Sunday morning at 1100 sharp! Even when crowded, everybody was friendly. MOST sites have NO sewage, but a park ranger told me that ALL have electric and water. Some of the sites we saw were STEEP and would definitely present "leveling challenges" for any sized trailer/motorhome and would be totally unsuitable for a tent. But as I said previously, just call ahead and staff are very helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay. The Kings Mountain Military Park is just a short distance from the camp ground and it's well worth visiting. We are looking forward to coming back SOON.

The campground needs some love. Dirt roads are full of deep holes or large bumps. There is a hairpin curve in front of site 39 that is is real challenge for any RV other than very small ones. Many of the sites are eroded to the point of being unusable even for tent campers. The trading post/check station in is not manned for many hours each day. Allstays indicates a laundry on premises but there is not one. Shower house is dated but was clean while we camped for 2 weeks. This campground is packed on weekends so surely there is money to address some of these problems. Everyone we met grumbled about conditions but did like us and made the best of it. We travel full time and have many State Park campgrounds to compare. This campground has such great potential.

Very nice park. I got here the day after hurricane Michael came through and the park was closed due to the storm but they found me a site anyway. Very nice staff. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. I only had one day to stay. Too bad, I would have liked to hike some of the trails. I’ll be back.

Greatest experience. We went Sunday-Tuesday. People were very friendly and the bathroom facilities were unbelievably clean. The general store is a nice touch. We will be back within the month.

Good pull-through site and comfort station. Dump area is too tight with incoming traffic forming a line that makes turning difficult.
