Convenient and simple BLM facility. 1/4 mile from Hwy 95 on a firm gravel road. Clean pit toilets, great views, adjacent river, 5 picnic bench campsites, but also room for drop-in overflow parking of an RV or 5th wheel trailer. Also serves as a boat launch point for the Owyhee River. Huge turn around space. No fees collected or requested during our July 2021 overnight. BLM fire station on sight was vacant at the time, but large video camera array on building gave us confidence of security. O-DOT employees use this location for rest breaks and toilets, which was also reassuring. Not a destination campground, but a dependable overnight RV parking spot enroute to/from Boise.

We stayed at Rome boat launch in June 2015. We were the first of two motorhomes that overnighted there. It was incredibly peaceful. There are two pit toilets. They were the cleanest we'd ever seen. The Owyhee river was lovely. We got our kayaks out and enjoyed paddling around. There are fire pits at the campsites. However, there was also a lot of overgrown dry grass and the wind rose as the sun set, so we didn't risk a fire. In the morning the river was perfectly flat and we were able to get some gorgeous pictures. We also saw a number of deer frolicking on the hills.
