I need to update my comment below. Train noise is pretty bad. We are in an RV so we can close the windows. Unless you鈥檙e a heavy sleeper, tent camping would be pretty unbearable. Most of the state parks in the gorge are on the freeway/rail line. Also, we got Verizon but sketchy.

Can鈥檛 beat this campground for location! Close to falls and trails. In fact there鈥檚 a great trail at the park. We explored Beacon Rock, Multanomah falls, the dam, etc., from this park. Yes, there is considerable freeway noise and the trains can be pretty frequent to none at all at night and they are not on top of the park. Train whistles put me to sleep. Now for the campground. We had a fairly private, paved, pull through, full hookup spot for our 30 ft RV with tow. Some blocks were necessary but not too bad. Picnic table and fire pit, although there is currently a burn ban. Showers good with hot water. There are two park hosts right now but haven鈥檛 seen any rangers. Gorgeous forest all around! Take note that parts of scenic Hwy 30 are closed due to construction and you may want to check on this before leaving to see the sights. The gorge is unbelievably beautiful. Don鈥檛 let the trains stop you.

Location of the CG for a Columbia Gorge tour outweighed significant issues. Among them are very uneven sites, noise of frequent trains, and no on-site info sources. There is no WiFi or Ranger station and the cell coverage makes hotspot access to internet very slow to totally unstable. Lack of current info turned every excursion into a frustrating hit or miss experience. Two recommendations; Use I-84 parking lot for Multnomah Falls and Cascade Locks (~8 miles on I-84W) for supplies. Cleaning shower/toilet building appeared to be contracted out with marginally acceptable results. At $47 per night for a 鈥淪tandard Full鈥 site, paying a little more in a campground west or east of the Historic US30 should be considered.

Loved this campground. Well maintained and clean. Beautiful trees and a couple of rabbits to welcome you. I recommend A sites because you have a little more space and don芒鈧劉t feel cramped. Some have complained about the road and trains. We heard one train and you can芒鈧劉t hear the highway. Great place to base camp and explore all the gorge has to offer!

Worst site and state park experience to date. Awful check in. Park was only open for camping. There was a roadblock 1/2 mile from campground entrance. When we got there(3:10) we were told we had to wait until 4 and could not remain parked where we were. To turnaround and park where suggested it was a 26 mile drive. Ranger was late & we finally got to our unlevel small site about 4:30. Septic hookup was too far to reach. Will never stay here again.we had to leave park to find green space to walk our dog.

Nice campground by state park standards. Restrooms and showers were very clean and worked properly. The A loop sites are a little steep and not perfectly level, the lower sites are more level and flat. Like most older campgrounds it芒鈧劉s a little tight getting in and out with rigs 30ft and over. We stayed overnight.

I only used the showers. Excellent, clean showers.

But here are some general comments: like someone said there's a train line and interstate nearby. I was camping further east in a forest service CG and the trains were a nuisance. There are beautiful waterfalls just down the road though.

Lots to see and do in the area! Decently level sites, semi private. Nice showers. The historic highway past the falls is VERY narrow and it gets BUSY on the weekends so pack your patience :)

Nice park. Lots of pull through sites, mostly level. The one I reserved was not but the host had no issues moving us.
This is a great place to stay if you enjoy hiking and waterfalls. There are Mike's of trails right from the campground.
There are trains with occasional horns but they haven't bothered us.
There is a giant loop and we stayed up on top in the pull through a, up against the hillside.
Very clean park with friendly hosts.

This is a bad site. Trains from every 15 to 45 minutes. Highway at 100 yards and free way noise never stops. Wherever someone came up with 4 stars is a total mystery.
