Bates SP is a lovingly cared for park that stands where there used to be a company town built around a sawmill. Its so interesting to explore the beautifully laid out hiking trails and to try to figure out where the town buildings used to be. There is limited to no shade on the campsites in 2020 because the newly planted trees need time to grow. Pit toilets are the cleanest & nicest ones i have EVER seen. I mean tiled floors! No dump site. Host very nice & helpful. Water on site is good plus a fabulous and fast running natural spring close by on the road where we filled our tanks & bottles. This park currently doesn't currently fill up even on weekends. Peaceful & quiet! An absolute gem. Would definitely go there again.
