A nice, heavily firested campground. Ample space and privacy between mostly short paved driveways. After finding every State Park full as we drove down Hwy 101 on a Saturday in late Sept., we were very happy to find good vacant sites here, even a pull-thru for our 28芒鈧劉 Airstream.

July 2021: Most camp sites are fairly shaded and private due to thick surrounding vegetation and tall trees. Most have a narrow, short (car length, sometimes plus a little more) paved parking strip, with an adjacent sandy or mostly bare earth space for a tent. Each site also has a picnic table and metal fire ring with grate. There are a few scattered sites with longer or wider parking strips. Most site芒鈧劉s parking strips are sloped, not level. Freshwater faucets are scattered throughout the campground. One or two of the faucets have hose threads, so could possibly be used to fill an RV freshwater tank. There are no showers, no sites with water, electric or sewer hookups, and no RV dump station. Cell service in some of the sites is somewhat spotty for Verizon, and very spotty to non-existent for AT&T. The campground's northern loop sites (sites 1-22) are available by "reservation only". Unreserved sites can sometimes be had for one night on a daily "first come first served" basis. The southern loop sites (sites 23-39) are all "first come first served" ONLY, year-round. These sites are usually occupied, but even during the summer season one or two might be available on any given day. Both loops are best suited for car/tent campers, pickup campers, Class 芒鈧揃芒鈧 van conversion RV芒鈧劉s under 25 feet, or a vehicle towing a very small trailer. Larger rigs may have trouble fitting into the sites, or even accessing them. The 芒鈧搇akes芒鈧 in the campground (Alder Lake and Dune Lake) are more like small, shallow ponds, which shrink or grow seasonally, depending mostly on recent rainfall. Nearby Sutton Lake is more suited for most water activities. There are only a very few parking spots available for Day Use purposes within the campground. Despite the two official USFS web sites for the Campground and Day Use area stating the Day Use Fee is $5, the posted price at the campground is $7, as of July 2021.
