May 2025: Watkins Glen SP is a great campground, with a few minor downsides. The good: most of the electric sites are reasonably level and have some privacy due to vegetation. The restrooms are utilitarian but reasonably clean. The campground is in a thick forest so feels quite far away from the town yet is really very close to all desirable shops, restaurants, lakefront etc. The dump station has two lanes, both well designed and level, both with rinse water and potable freshwater available. There are many good hiking trails, with the trail along the bottom of the gorge being especially worthwhile. The not so good: The non-electric sites range from level, spacious, private to very sloped, small, crowded. Mix and match those descriptions and take your chances (level but crowded, small but level鈥 for example). Altogether this is a very convenient place to camp for a few days but your site will determine how comfortable you are.

Watkins Glen is a 芒鈧搈ust see芒鈧 gorge with amazing waterfalls. However, we do not recommend this campground. Our reserved site, Mohawk Village Loop B #67 was so severely sloped in multiple directions, that after an hour of constantly repositioning our 22芒鈧劉 TT, and using up to 5芒鈧 of blocking under the tires, we could never get level enough to unhitch safely. Ended up going to a privately owned campground. Yes, there are some reasonably level sites, but it芒鈧劉s hard to pick those out from a picture. We watched several campers having similar difficulties, with some having to go the wrong way on the narrow one lane roads to try to access their sites. Camp elsewhere, and just hike the gorge as a Day Trip.

This campground is in a really nice park but the camp sites are up a very steep hill and far from the lake and trails. There is very little lake access that we could find. The sites are dirt/gravel and large enough. Bathrooms are ok. It芒鈧劉s really crowded. Nice dump station.

We stayed here May 31, thru June 2, 2019. This place was okay, had good potential, good location, real good firewood, and sub-par public restrooms and showers. Looks like they haven芒鈧劉t put any money back into this place in years. Overpriced for a lot with no utilities. Compared to all the campgrounds we stayed in in a road trip through Canada to Alaska last year, this was on the low end of average on everything but price.

The campground is somewhat average for a New York State campground, which means it芒鈧劉s quite nice. You will have a large site and nice facilities. The big attraction is access to one of the most scenic areas east of the Mississippi! You MUST hike the gorges and waterfalls. I would probably avoid the peak summer vacation months, if possible, and weekends because the trails do get crowded. The campground is a short drive from downtown, which has some nice restaurants and shopping. And, of course, the Seneca Wine Trail. I

Awesome campground especially for a state park. A Portion of the sites have electric which is unheard of in a State Park!!! A trail leads to the gorge area from one of the camping loops but not from where the RVs are at. I recommend driving to the lower entrance to the gorge, taking to bus to the upper entrance for $5 per seat, then you will wind up back where you parked after walking the gorge. I did not see the bathrooms but understand they have resently been refurbished. No water at the sites but it is allowed to pull your RV up, connect a hose and fill your RV. No regrets. Olympic size pool is amazing but open to the general public. Visited July, 2017

Really nice campground, campsites, and facilities which are all well maintained. All staff which we interacted with were very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful campground. Shaded sites, nicely paved access roads. Fire rings nicely done. Great access to the gorge.

Campground provides great access to a very popular state park. With campground pass you don't need to pay the $10 parking/entrance fee.
