I should say that this facility is a National Recreation Area facility and the management of it is leased to concessionaires. My wife & I have been camping for over 45 years. In all of those years I would say that we鈥檝e stayed in over a thousand facilities of all types. In all those stays we鈥檝e never gone to a facility and after looking it over, decided that we would not stay there, until we came to this place. It is located down a paved road that ends at the marina and the RV 鈥渞esort鈥. Our first concern was with the absolute lack of any signage to direct a person to the RV park and the office & registration. There are actually two campgrounds located here. One is the RV 鈥渞esort鈥 and the other is the National Park facility. We had to drive around the area in order to find either one. The National Park facilities were absolutely horrible. Only 2 or 3 units were there and they were shaky at best. We parked our rig in a parking area for the marina and I explored the area on foot, finally found an unlocked door after checking several buildings. The place was like a ghost town. Bottom line - don鈥檛 waste the time and gas driving all the way to this dump. The maintenance was nonexistent. I had to pull the weeds away from the water hook up in order to connect the hose. When we saw that there was only a few units there that gave us a clue to run from this place.

It appears Lower campground is closed. Upper In rough shape. Trees all dying. Soon won芒鈧劉t be able to call it Cottowood. Bathrooms with running water no showers. Not level but not too bad. Dry camping. Short walk or ride to marina.

Cottonwood Cove Campground: upper and lower campgrounds. Older camps but maintained. 14 miles down a well paved but slow road from Searchlight. Oleander bushes with a few trees in upper. Nice view of lake. Smaller sites would be tight for big RVs. No problem for our 26 ft 5th wheel. Back in sites. Concrete picnic tables. Nice firepit/grills. Very clean bathrooms. No hookups. Sami dump with water. $10 (golden age $5). More wind at upper but larger & more secluded. Lower is smaller, closer to lake and more trees for shade. We loved this site and plan to return. Here 1/26 & 1/27.
