Ward Mountain Campground is a gem of a find. $8/$4 with access pass per night for well maintained sites (fire pits, picnic tables, tent pads, level gravel sites, pit toilets). As mentioned in other reviews (and reason for taking away one star) water is still out. Website informs so if you are prepared it is not a problem. The campground is a very short gravel road away from highway 93 just outside of Ely, NV. Elevation is 7000 plus so cooler. Many sites, some reservable, others (like mine #29) are first come first serve. There are two huge group campsites and also sites marked for RVs, however all sites (as far as I could tell can accommodate cars and/or RVs). Place is big enough with enough sites that likely you will find a quiet spot. Very peaceful now, no noise, and both group campsites were loaded with people, so nice! There is plenty of hiking (easy to difficult) and mountain biking trails with trailhead right from campground. Overall very impressed (great value) and will keep this on my list as should return.

Water out until 30 June 21. Really nice campground with nice tables, fire pits, grills, and tent pads. Bathrooms clean (pits). High altitude camp so it cools down well. Bring your mtb as trailheads are in the camp. Dump stations and potable water 6 miles in town.

Truly a hidden gem - not too far off the highway, but a ton of open sites (which were already spacious to begin with) when I was there. Very primitive with no flush toilets and certainly no hookups, but can’t beat the location/value combo here.

Really nice campground. Some sites are reservable, some are first come first serve. clean toilets, friendly Host. stayed in mid September for 14 days. Great value at $8/night. No fires allowed when we camped, but propane stoves are ok.

Stayed 5 nights. 8/26 thru 8/30. Great campground. Wonderful hosts. Quiet. Fantastic stars. Wish there was a dump station. Was recently renovated. If you drove through the heat to get here, you will be rewarded with the cool mountain evenings. Easy run into Ely for restocking. LovesTruck Stop is the least expensive dump station. Don’t miss the steam railroad in Ely.

Wow! One of the nicest, cleanest campgrounds we have ever seen. As stated in other reviews, the campground is well laid out with great Mountain View’s. We were here at end of April, so pre-season, thus camping was FREE! Water was off. Pit toilets were open, sparkling clean (really!), but no toilet paper and no trash cans. So, bring your own water and TP in the off-season and plan on taking your trash out with you and enjoy a delightful stay. Only 4 other RV’s were camped in this huge campground.

Wonderful campground, recently renovated. Plenty of large, level sites with picnic table and level tent area at each RV area. Drinking water, toilets available but no dump nor power. When we visited, there were few campers, plenty of room. Highly recommended.

Sept 2016 - The campground is barely a mile or less off Hwy. 6 and it has been laid out with care and attention to detail. Everything clean and new from signs, gravel, toilets, fire grates to swings and horse shoe pits in group areas. We were the only campers.

Beautiful Forest Service campground with spacious sites. Gravel, but very clean and fairly level. Very nice tables, fire pits, grills, and vault toilets. We stayed here in our travel trailer before the season so there was no water and no trash disposal facility (FS office said it was OK to stay---no fee). Don't know how it would be during the summer. Would definitely stay here again.
