This was the nicest place we saw in Nevada. Desert-y but still green. We were there in May. Nice sites, lovey lake. Good for birders. I think there is a horse camp nearby. They offered wi-fi for a small fee.

Nice campground with really really antiquated cancellation, noshow 3zmc8zpolicies. One third of loop A, the one with electricity was utilized. The hosts hands were tied in releasing sits with no shows. Oh, it was snowing! Still unable to release sites with 2 nights of NO SHOWS, plus it was a group that reserved three sites. The sites went unused for three night. We gave up after two nights and headed to a different location.Nevada, wake up, revise your NOSHOW policies!

Days 28-30, site 15, $30 .This is a really nice little campground with good access to Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Virginia City and Reno. We arrived on a Sun for 3 nights and had plenty of options to camp w elec in loop A. Dump station closed due to high water table but the Maverick on hwy 50 in Carson City has free dump. The drive here from Napa was gorgeous w snow covered mountains. No big concerns crossing mtns w our Rpod and Ford Escape. Loved the day visit to Virginia City- such a great wild west town, home of the Comstock Lode Silver .mine ( read Louis Lamours Comstock Lode book - great fictional history). A fun place to eat in Carson City is Red’s Old 395 Bar n Grill. Great brisket. Campground had lovely sites, clean, right next to Washoe Lake. Bath house was clean and had typical push button showers. Saw lots of wild horses. Great stop!

Really enjoying the campsite. We chose Loop A , which has power and water. Reasonably priced. $25 night. Great views of the mountains, hiking trails nearby. The campground is beautifully maintained. I had a chance to speak with Shelly, a campground Host. She was very helpful and even called around to help find a location to buy propane.. Great place to camp. Great wildlife viewing. We had three wild horses stop by yesterday evening.

Camping area is separate from the day use/grassy area, but it’s quiet. Half of the campsites (loop A) were closed for renovation, so it was full by early afternoon. It’s almost always windy here, so be prepared. A little bit buggy, too, but still a nice place.

Great state park. No hook ups but does have fresh water fill up and a dump station. Very nice views in A loop. Park is centrally located for Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Carson City and Reno. $15 a night. Would definitely stay again.

Such a beautiful place and it really is historical if you know.
It is the site for one of the greatest engineering feats in America. Water was needed for Virginia City, a city more valuable than New York City. They piped from a lake above you in the Sierras through this valley and up the other side to Virginia City. No pumps were ever installed or needed.

Also image 30 years ago when Slide Mountain let go and slid down the valley and over the freeway.

Lastly don't miss hiking the sand dunes. The winds can be amazing and that why Mark Twain called them the Zephyr Winds.
