Nice, mostly wooded campground right off of I 195 convenient to area beaches, Belmar and Asbury Park nightlife and NYC transportation. It芒鈧劉s less expensive than the private campgrounds in the area even with the $5 surcharge for out of state residents.
Allaire State Park offers miles of pretty trails of varying difficulty, a restored 19th century village and an antique train. Mostly pull through sites芒鈧漵ome leveling required. The cabins looked cute from the outside. Bathrooms were clean and modern with good hot showers. Dump station was clean and accessible.
Good news! Pets are now allowed. Bad news芒鈧漣t芒鈧劉s at a price芒鈧$5 per critter per day.
The only negatives are that there is some unavoidable highway noise from the Interstate. Ticks are a problem here as anywhere in NJ especially in spring.

Lots of trees, easy and shady pull throughs, okay playground. Trash was picked up by a noisy truck at 6 in the morning. Uhm...
