Sand burrs cost this campground three stars. We picked them off of our clothing, shoes, rugs, and dogs. The only safe place seemed to be the roads.

This is the place to stay with a camper for the Nebraska star party. Bathroom facilities are adequate, the showers take quarters. A dollar get you three minutes, 7 quarters is like seven minutes. The roads here at Merritt Reservoir are narrow, hilly and windy. The campground is gravel, but level cement pads for Campers. Prickly pears grow in abundance in the grass areas. Careful with dogs or bare feet. There’s a boat access, unlimited, swimming access, but no beach. But astronomers come here for the dark skies.

Some pretty nice views and seclusion. 30 minutes from the nearest civilization. Gas at the park store but limited hours. Very sandy. Sand burrs, so be careful with dogs (one of ours had many in her paws) and don’t walk around barefoot. Showers require quarters to use even after paying for campsite and park fees! We’d be hard pressed to go back.

I have camped at Cedar Bay several times over the last few years in a travel trailer and it has been a 3 or 4 star experience. Father's Day 2016 was an exception, I was very disappointed, therefore, I have to give this experience 1 star. Maintenance of the campground was lacking, grass was not mowed. Trash bins were full and you noticed an odor when you approached them. The Vault toilet in the campground smelled horrible. Quiet hours (10 PM to 6 AM) were not observed, a large group of campers gathered around a campfire could be heard until 1 AM. The speed limit (15 mph)through the campground is not observed. Game & Parks LEO's never seen at campground. Several campers had their dog or dogs (3 in one campsite), some not leashed, saw a campers dog defecate in the campsite & he made no attempt to clean it up. Also, confronted 1 camper about dog barking at 11 PM. Campground Hosts were not seen. Game & Parks personnel drove through occasionally. Right now I am looking for a campground in the area that is better maintained and managed. Very, Very disappointed with the Cedar Bay campground !!!
