Gorgeous park but a little difficult to get to. The park is in two parts, the main part which looked a little crowded and the section south by the boat landing where we stayed. We were the only ones there! Very quiet with tent sites along the river and longer sites for RVs. Vaulted toilets and fresh water available. Electric only which was fine with us. Fresh water and a dump station at the main section. Very nice showers at the main ranger station. We had to get in the car and drive 1/2 mile to use them. Very nice trails along the Missouri river and a nice interpretative museum at the ranger station. Go north from the park and you may see some buffalo. Prairie is phenomenal. Keep going and you come to the town of Washburn for gas and a restaurant. Bismark has fort Abraham Lincoln and the Custer home which was very interesting.

Pros: Electric hookups, easy access to a trail along the Missouri. Access to hot, free, clean showers. Restrooms are clean and well maintained. The Visitor Center is in the same building as the restrooms and is staffed by rangers. Lots of trees, and greenery. There are pit toilets conveniently located in the campground.
Cons: Sites are close together and on weekends the place is crowded. The restrooms are in the Visitor Center at the entrance to the place; a bit of a hike (less than 1/4 mile). Lots of ticks in May. We stayed here in a campervan.

nice primitive place. Walke to hike in sites and they are nice. Watch the roads if in a RV.
