As far as proximity to things to do/see, there isn't a ton in Goldsboro to begin with. But, the base is nearby a mall, Target, lots of restaurants, and some brew pubs. The staff I have spoken with on the phone so far have been very helpful and informative. They have called to check in and make sure everything is working as expected. Our short term site, #7, is a pull through and faces the woods and it's quiet and isolated from the main area where the long term rigs are. It's been very enjoyable sitting out at night, facing the woods, and just enjoying nature. We have just retired and this is our first on base camping experience and we love it here.

Had a nice one-night stay at a very secluded campsite. It is first-come/first served and was mostly full, but back loop had a pull-through that was just perfect for us.

PCS from AK to SJAFB. Stayed in famcamp while awaiting housing. There are only 4-5 temporary spots (14 days or less then must vacate for 24 hours) and 8+ long term. Long list to get a long term spot. Full hook ups in most sites that were functioning. WiFi signal didn’t receive and our coach was less than 25 feet from the router. Sewage integrated into concrete pads, no pad was level. Bathrooms were functional but we didn’t want to use them...not inviting. 1 washer/dryer but dryer not working...told to use lodging laundry facilities. $100/wk or $17/day. Not happy because we had to leave for 24 hours after staying 14 days waiting for housing despite being on PCS orders, no exceptions strictly enforced.
