Camped 6 nights Fri-Wed Apr 4-10, 2024. Wide open, lots of availability. Great spot 1/4 mile walk from beach with miles of beach to roam and fish. Campsites are smaller and many are sloped due to being in the dunes; nice separation and privacy. We were on P051 near the back and it was nicknamed the Penthouse because of the great view of the ocean, and level for our 25' TT with room leftover to park our truck; added 1/4 mile to the walk to the beach. Bathrooms clean and separate showers that are cold only. Easy access to town and the Buxton Fish Market for fresh seafood.

Neat campground in the dunes about a 1/4 mile or so from the beach. The sites are small with the trees and shrubs of the dunes providing privacy but crowd in on many of the sites. The perimeter sites are level but many of the interior ones are on a grade we were barely able to get level. Verizon signal ok 2 bars. The dump station is on Lighthouse Road a little south of the lighthouse headed to the other NP campground.

Nice NPS campground near the dunes. Many sites are for tenting only. Facilities are clean! Great place near Hatteras.

Beautiful place to stay however the showers are ice cold and the cell service is practically null.

The Park Rangers were very nice and helpful. This is the kind of place to where you will either have a fantastic site, or a really crappy one. We were lucky and we had a great site #43. No generators after 2200, which makes for a hot night in the summer. Everything was clean and well maintained. Off-Road beach access is right at the entrance of the campground. Don't forget to pressure down before you drive on the beach. Your going to want the ORV permit as it is a long walk to the beach....but the beach is beautiful at this part of the OBX.

This great camp spot is a little bit out of the way but worth it. My wife, dog and I stayed here in out travel trailer over several days and really enjoyed it. When planning out trip to the Outer Banks, I read some other review sites and looked at google maps satellite view and decided that this was the campground we should reserve at. And after visiting the area and driving through all the other campsites, I'm glad we went with this one. It is a little further from Kitty Hawk than the other sites, but it is much more private and felt like camping rather than being parked in a parking lot near the highway.

Awesome camp spot. You camp on the dunes and the beach is not a bad walk. One of the most beautiful beaches I have been too. Quiet and not at all crowded. Do not expect warm showers at the shower house.

This is a very nice but very basic campground. No electricity. No dump station (have to go to the NPS campground about 5 miles further east). No water.
