Cell service is booty. Even Starlink doesn’t do very well. BUT the peace and quiet and cleanliness and hiking trails make up for it ALL. The staff is phenomenal and friendly

We overnighted here just before 4th of July , 2022 because other campgrounds around Asheville were booked. I believe we got the only available RV site for the night. Site 26 was easy to get into with our 26 ft. TT and was great. So much more space and quietness than the area KOA we stayed at the previous week. Just don’t expect a good phone signal.

Stayed there Nov 2020 - tent loop was totally full on the weekend with only two toilets for ~30+ sites!!!!! - people had to wait in line to use the toilet - no recorded cleaning schedule which is not a good practice during COVID - toilets not clean due to overuse - nice campground but really need to install other bathrooms or pit toilets to accommodate the numbers of campers

Recently stayed at the full hookup site 48
Very nice National Forest Campground
Clean bathrooms and showers
We stayed with a 32ft pull behind
Site 48 was level, huge and private with mountain views
This place is close to Biltmore Village, NC Arboretum and the Blue Ridge Parkway
Miles of hiking and biking trails

This is our fourth time staying at Lake Powhatan. We travel in a 30Ft Airstream and sites easily accommodate our rigs and F250. The sites are space, private, and Full Hookups! For $31 a night that is a deal. Tons of hiking, biking, and exploring. Recommend Thirsty Monk and Moe’s Original BBQ for good beer and eats.

We loved staying here and even extended our stay further than planned. It’s clean, the showers are hot and the bathrooms heated, the camp hosts are friendly and accommodating. We found we could not get Verizon service in any loop except Big John, but the higher up you are there on the hill the better the reception. Water is some of the best we’ve tasted too. All that, and you’re just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. Will absolutely be back.

If you want the kids, husband and/or wife to stay away from the electronics, this is the place for you. If you work like I do and need your phone and technology, don’t stay here. If you like to watch TV don’t stay here. If you just want to do some good old time camping, sitting by the campfire, playing games, and having family time, then come here. I planned on staying for 5 nights but cancelled after one as I could not work. The park is clean and private sites. I camped in a 40 ft motorbike and the site was very right getting in and the curves scary. You need to know what you are doing to navigate this park safely. Also, the road coming to it had several long limbs that hit the top of the coach. The toad was not well prepared for larger coaches.

We love the close proximity to the Blue Ridge. Excellent biking from campground. Private, large, clean and paved sites. No cell service, laundry, or wifi. Great hiking, biking and puppy romping though and close to groceries, gas, and restaurants in Asheville. Highly recommend.

This campground is close to our home and we choose it to be our very first travel trailer camping site late in Feb.. With 2 loops open year round with full hook ups (50/30/20) it made our 1st time a breeze being able to try out all the amenities of our TT. The grounds and bathhouse had been kept very clean.
The lake has a beach and many walking/running/hiking trails.
