This was a great stop over on our way out to San Diego. We plan to stay here on our way back to Virginia. Plenty of room and the rustic vibe is awesome. Great people. One bit of advice try to make it in before dark the road in is a little narrow if you’re in a big rig.

Came in w/o a reservation after a storm took the power from the location I had made reservations and they were very accommodating. Great place with lots of room to move or let the kids run. We did not use any of the facilities but everyone was polite and friendly.

We stopped in for a one night stay over on our way home to Fort Worth Texas. Askews Landing Campground is is very remotely located, one of the reasons we choice it to get away from the Interstate noise. The last 1/4 mile of the road leading to the campground is a dirt road but that wasn’t a problem because it wasn’t raining. It is a quaint park nestled around a pond with ducks. The first site Caroline assigned us only had 102 volts so I returned to office and was given site #79 which only had 105 volts. Our rv has a hardwired Progressive Industries EMS that won’t allow power below 106 volts to pass through to protect the electrical components in the rv. So I returned to the office for a refund so we could search for a rv park with adequate power but sadly left with no refund. That is far from the most expensive lesson I have learned but still disappointing. It is mid June in Mississippi with temperatures over 100 so A/C is a must.

They allow grey water release at the camp site. Which gets taken advantage of (think there may be black water mixed at some) we couldn’t believe it.... Absolutely disgusting with pools outside some of the campers. You would think the state would not allow this as well. We just needed a quick over night stay but would not recommend this of course if we would have seen this when we checked in we would have turned around ASAP. Gravel road but pretty setting getting back to it with pond horses and lots of land.....Never again.

Beautiful setting and the people were very nice but it all goes downhill from there. There is no sewer system but they do have a dump station so we knew that we would be fine for the night. The big problem is most of the campers are long term and they just let their grey water dump on the ground making a haven for insects, biting insects. We enjoy having a couple drinks outside before dinner but the bugs were so bad we had to seek shelter after being outside just a few minutes. Benadryl cream has been the order of the day since. We’re marking another campground off our list of places to stay.

This place is a real gem! We were passing through to Gulf Shores and needed a place to stay overnight. The night we passed through was the weekend before Halloween, and we couldn’t believe the decorations they had out. It was fantastic. Everyone we met, from the management to locals were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again. If you ever find yourself in the area around Halloween do yourself a favor and stop in. They throw a fantastic event. Very family friendly.

We stayed at this campground for a week while we visited Vicksburg and Jackson; the location is convenient to both cities. The setting is also pretty. Had a great experience with the ladies in the office who were very helpful, but a negative experience with the owner. He was looking at an adjacent campsite and saw that our rig was plugged into it’s 50 amp service. He just assumed we did it without permission so he unplugged the power and just tossed our cable on the ground, while we were in our camper! He didn’t bother to talk with us first or to see if there would be a problem caused by unplugging – what if someone our trailer was on oxygen?! He did later apologize but needs to seriously rethink his approach to dealing with camper situations. The other issue here is that most of the campers are very long-term tenants. Many of the rigs appeared to have been there for months, if not years, and were in disrepair. The trailer next to us had a residential air conditioner in the window. Also, the campsites are all grass and are thus very squishy with moisture. We stacked four Legos under our tires, three of which wound up sinking into the ground. Overall, this place is OK for an overnight or weekend stay, but I would think twice about a longer stay here.

Stayed here to get off the road. There is a good sized pond, trees and lots off green.

Enjoyed hearing about the family history from the 1850's. I was told that the building just as you come in was a corpttin gin and was used by General Sherman when he pushed the Confederate troops from Vicksburg sent to harass the invading Union army back across he Black River. Sherman used bales of cotton fron the Askews to form a pontoon bridge over the river. The office was originally by the road and was the slave commissary. Very interesting as we stayed at Riverbend to visit the Vicksburg battle field.

The hookups ranged from side by side in a field to in the trees. Note: the treed sites mostly don't have sewage. No problem for a few days. Dump station on the way out.

Beautiful park and quiet, woodsy setting. Enjoyed touring Vicksburg area from here. Sad to have missed fresh egg season. Their chickens' egg doors were bolted shut in this cold November. Especially loved the geese and ducks, and they loved the corn and oats I gave them.

Beautiful camping. Lakes and wildlife very relaxing. Host - Dolly Parton look a like great. BUT. The bathrooms are horrendous. I think only six. Two by the pool closed. One other closed. Ground v busy so that's three loos between the lot. Plus very down market/ rickety- they were better in the state park we had stayed in the night before. If you don't need to use bathrooms this is a great place to go. If you do then think twice. We were going to stay two days but left after 1. Great shame as it is probably the most beautiful park we have stayed in
