Great location in the city on the River. Full hookup site. The campground used to be a residential community but the city bought out the homeowners because of flooding. Now it is a campground which can easily be moved. There are many flood warning systems so we felt quite safe.

Close to Highway 2, agree about the add-on fees but it is still more reasonable than many other campgrounds with nearby attractions and nice big sites.

Access: Good. Paved/concrete interior roads are a little rough. Sites: Pull-throughs & back-ins. Mostly level gravel/sand. Fire pits & tables. Many sites with shade. Spacing very good. Staff: Friendly. Grounds: Well kept, clean with lots of grass and trees. Electrical: 30/50 amp. No issues Noise Level: Moderate. Highway and Fire Dept close by. Some train noise -- not too bad. Cell Service AT&T: 3 bars. Wifi: Not used Price: $36 site fee per night + $7.00 booking fee + $7.00 vehicle fee per night or $32.00 for one year = On the expensive site. Notes: We travel in a 40' Motorhome. Not all park facilities were used. Opinion: Much to like about this State Park. Pre-1997 the RV park was a residential neighborhood. In 97 it was inundated by record flood waters. Residents relocated and area turned into an RV park. There is direct access to the greenway with many paved walking, running and biking paths. If you are a cyclist, there is an 8 mile loop along both sides of the river or a 20 mile loop of connecting bike paths. Easy walking access to downtown East Grand Forks and Grand Forks, ND. The restoration since the floods is beautiful! Complaints: Fees have the sense of being nickel and dimed. Site surface is loose gravel and sand. If staff have questions regarding your registration, knocking on your door 9:00 PM is not beyond them. Like other State park experiences, staff can be intrusive. Weekends may be noisy -- outdoor concerts and car racing.

Gorgeous park! Full hookups! Lovely sites! Near University of North Dakota! Close to Amenities and overall a great place to stay! However, I was not prepared for the added costs! I called the park to make a reservation. I was give a number to call their reservation line. Cost to stay there was $33 plus $10 for a reservation fee. When we checked in I was charged an additional $7 for an entry fee. My total was $50! We stayed here in August 2019. Seems expensive for a state park!

Actually, we'd rate it a six star rating in all categories. Wonderful clean, well maintained campground with modern clean restrooms and showers, nice pull through and back in sites. Close to restaurants, entertainment and shopping. What's not to like.

Date of Stay: Sept 2016
RV: 25' Motorhome with toad (62' overall) - didn't have to unhook.

This one is hard to rate because it is different from most campgrounds I'm used to staying in. This was a neighborhood that was devastated in 1997 by flooding. FEMA purchased the buildings and they were demolished and the area along the river and lake was turned into a greenway and this RV Park...Great idea! It's in the floodplain, so that is something to keep in mind if you plan to stay here during a heavy rain.

We paid $39 for a pull-through site with full hookups. That included a $10 state park charge. Gravel parking was relatively level. We wanted to use our satellite dish and selected a site that didn't have trees blocking the south. Friendly staff and clean park. We didn't take advantage of the close proximity of a cinema, restaurants and shopping within walking distance or the bike trails because we were passing through and only spending one night. Being on the river...there is a nice path alongside.

There were several other campers, but we were nicely spaced out...moreso than average. Lots of trees. The prime spots along the bike path were rented, so it's best to call ahead if you want one of those. Only issue was a gazillion mosquitoes (they actually sprayed the night we were here).

The park ranger was kind enough to stay after hours to take our money along with 2 other folks who also showed up while we were doing our business.

We had a hard time finding a suitable campground with decent reviews within striking distance of Winkler, Manitoba Canada...and this area seemed the best option as far as proximity. This one was a crap-shoot with only one review before mine. Being 2 women, we seek out locations and campgrounds that we feel safe in. This fit that bill. Glad we gave it a shot. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
