9/2020. Hancock Campground #34, in the woods. Small county park and campground on the Portage River just outside Houghton/Hancock area. Great central location to visit the Keewanaw Peninsula area. They have all types of sites - we had electric site. Some are by the river. Nice bathrooms and showers. Friendly staff. Short path or you can drive to the beach and playground.

Nice place, clean, nice location, friendly staff & good size sites, no problem with our 36’ Class A. Stayed in 2 different sites 4 & 6, both have water but 4 is 50a and 6 is 30. We wanted 50a so we switched to site 4 on our 2nd night, that was a mistake. While 4 is larger and has 50a, it also sits lower than 6 and where water collect in puddles. Our site was wet for our entire 4 day stay. We tried to relocate our MH on the pad so our door wasn’t opening to a puddle, but we couldn’t. Site 6 didn’t have the same wetness issues but it looked like site 3 and possibly 1 would have the same issue with water. We didn’t observe the same issues with the rest of the sites and we would stay there again, just not in sites 1, 3 or 4. Some of the sites on the river really seem nice, we would like to get into one of those next time. We are self contained so didn’t use any of the facilities but they looked to be clean and in good condition. Had we stayed in site 6 our whole stay, we’d probably given 5 stars.

Spacious sites and clean showers, bathrooms, and laundry area. Near many activities in town, on lake or on the river. Friendly, helpful staff. We used a tent spot but RV spots looked good, too.

This is a great campground right on the river. There is a large swimming area connected to the campground and boat ramps. The campsites are large and spacious. Didn't use the restrooms as we are self contained.

We were looking for a low key place to stay for 2 rest days. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on weekdays in July.
This campground fit the bill. It was clean and well maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly. There was a wide variety of sites - outer loop sites were larger than inner loop. Some were very private. Some had views of Portage River and a couple were right on the river. Most sites had electric, a few had water. There was a dump station near the entrance. There was good ATT and Verizon coverage. There was free wifi - it was a bit slow and fastest near the bathrooms/laundry.
There's a swimming beach a short walk from the campsites. Downtown Hancock is 2.5 miles and Houghton is 2.8 miles. Both had a variety of restaurants and places to visit.
