This is a great campground. Excellent facilities, level lots, and excellent trails. We hiked for miles and enjoyed our big campsite. Lots of families were out. And the view from Lookout Point is amazing.

If you want to explore the driftless area, and especially if you want to visit Galena, this state park is a good one to park the RV or tent. You would think a park with over 240 sites would be cramped and offer little space between sites, but this is not the case. For the most part, sites are large and relatively easy to get into. However, sites are not level. My only complaint would be that bathrooms are vault style and showers are few and far between. Many sites are quite a distance from facilities. Same can be said for the trash bins. Dump stations each have potable water spigots. Lots of hiking trails and a paved road that leads to several overlooks are part of the park. A beautiful park that is easy to get to from scenic highway 84. Do Not turn into the south entrance, campground and registration is at the north entrance.

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful park in Illinois. Most sites are shaded with paved roads throughout. Lots of trails to explore that overlook the Mississippi River from high limestone bluffs.

Great park always clean staff very friendly and helpful
