We drove through here last year and we were quite impressed with what we saw and wanted to spend a month here. However they will not work with deaf or hearing impaired people. There is no live website to see what and when sites are available. I was told in an email that I could email them my card number and they would see if they could book me a site, but could offer no assurances on account security, nor could they guarantee anything due to the inherent lag of email communication. I pointed out that if I sent them my card number unsecured, then I have no fraudulent liability coverage; there response was pretty much "oh well". While I would like to stay here, I am completely unable to because I have no one to call them. Seems to be a very nice place, just out of touch with modern technology and standards.

This place is a real GEM. There are 2 areas designated with ether full service hook ups (Area 2) or just electric & water (Area 1). Free Internet is extremely fast. Prices are reasonable by the day, week or month. Waterfront sites pay a little more. Beautiful lake, bunch of new Pickleboard Courts (formerly tennis courts) that are used frequently. Each area has multiple restrooms with showers. Full service site pads are paved while the others are hard pack gravel. The fairgrounds have a small auditorium with big name entertainment. Vince Gill played the night I arrived.

It's not what it used to be. We have been camping there for 10 years or so and they are not doing much upkeep. Tennis and basketball courts have really gone downhill. No renovations to bath houses either. They seem to be catering more to events and less to long term campers. This summer 10 days are blocked in the middle of June for a bike rally. Can't get in for the summer until the 27th of June. Hiawassee and the lake are really nice though.
